Where the f*** are FIVESTAR?!

Why are Five Star so f***ing sh---- BEEEEEEEEP...

For an Eighties-only band, would have to be The Smiths.
Otherwise, would add on The Jam, The Police or The Pretenders.

But, in their absence, voted for the lovely Bangles.
Their recent-ish comeback album was stunning too. :clap2:

Call this a poll. Where's the option for BON JOVI

I had the exact same thought (as mentioned in my earlier post).

Mind you, I asked it seriously. I'm not sure if you're being serious or not.

Hope you are though, because they deserve recognition.

Namedropping every band who were around in the 80's is nice, but Monochrome Set were 70's, as were Gang of Four, Blondie (in that ^ list) Talking Heads etc etc.

But really, how are Hipsway, Popguns or Felt even going to make the best album of a week, let alone a decade?

DAF, Scritti Politti, Haircut 100, Petshop Poofs, FGTH?? :nono:

But to return to the style of this poll, The Cure might also be a glaring omission, and New Order had their best times in the 80's. So, there are too few bands in that list to have a serious table of winner(s) in the category of 'most celebrated' 80's band.

Serious  You are talking about the person who is waiting patiently for the Country Music Awards tonight because they are on it and their induction into the Hall of Fame next week. I am very serious. Think one of the only few bands that have been around for the 80's 90's and 20's

JON BON JOVI

I was already planning on watching the CMA's anyway (I love country music), but I had completely forgotten that Jovi would be on there because of the Sugarland thing.

I went to see them (Jovi, not Sugarland), live for the first time over the summer, and I came away more hooked than I had been before. They put many younger bands to shame with the musicianship, energy, passion and enthusiasm of their performance.

A particular highlight was Richie singing "I'll Be There For You", that man has a great voice (as his solo albums show) to go with the great guitar skills.

PS - If you're watching the CMAs, look out for a song called 'Believe' by Brooks & Dunn (it, and they, won a few awards, so it should be on there in some form or another). Incredible song with a fantastic vocal from Ronnie Dunn.
