Five years ago I used to view the BBC as my go to source of news, that I could trust completey. No longer. Completely biased, run by remainers, presenters are remainers, editors are remainers, lots of news getting buried.

Where is the headline news about Jo Swinson's husband receiving £4million from the EU for example? That makes a grope of a thigh 20 years ago look very insignificant but guess which one they're still banging on about!

That's not just about the BBC, then.

On the basis that the BBC gets accused of bias from all sides, they are probably getting it right in what are very difficult times.

Doff your cap redneck

What might make things easier is if us working class, comprehensive school types weren't allowed to vote at all. You superiors could simply decide whats best for us. Maybe make us have symbols on our clothing so we can be easily identified as the inferiors that we are?

Hmm! There are those who are very well educated, and amongst those there are people who have been told that they are born leaders, that others will follow you because you exude confidence, intelligence, poise, purpose and above all, you have family money to get things you want done, removing whatever obstacles that may get in your way.
Then there are those who have to scrap for everything, people who have been told that they will amount to nothing, you're told that your best bet is to follow the leaders, be grateful for anything that comes you way, and DO NOT question your superiors, they know what's best for you.

It appears that there is a bipartite decision to be made here, go with the flow and be thankful for your lot in life, or fight the natural order of things, stand tall and question everything the born leaders do, that's the only way you'll get what's best for YOU, not THEM.

What might help is if people like yourself did not come to ridiculous assumptions based upon bugger all evidence. I happen to be from a working class comprehensive background, however I have never let that be an excuse to be ignorant of issues that have an impact on me. I do think a knowledge test should be implemented before voting, that way maybe we wouldn't have the situation where in the UK AFTER THE VOTE the second most searched term was "what is the EU". And I stand by my assertion that too many people cannot be bothered looking deeply into serious issues and instead go with their gut feelings, or they, like you just have, jump to unwarranted assumptions.

If anybody really thinks that the BBC is impartial (particularly on Brexit), then they're seriously deluded.

Of course the proof of the BBC's left leaning biases are the constant stream of left wing governments foisted on the UK public who foolishly allow themselves to be duped by the public broadcasting organisation.

If only there were some right wing media outlets to provide balance.

Sorry for the rant but this has been grating me for a while... Does anyone else find the BBC seem to pick and choose on what news stories they allow comments on? Surely as a supposedly non biased platform (paid for by the tax payer) they should either allow comments on everything published or no comments at all? The fact journalists with their own opions/agendas within the BBC can pick and choose what people can comment on is bullshit really!

You've only just noticed this?

The BBC is far from impartial these days. The above article is an interesting read too.

A simple wiki search about the spectator tells you this .......

The Spectator is a weekly British magazine on politics, culture, and current affairs. It was first published in July 1828. It is owned by David and Frederick Barclay who also own The Daily Telegraph newspaper, via Press Holdings. Its principal subject areas are politics and culture.

So it's owned by the same company that owns the Telegraph (or is it known as the Borisagraph these days?) and it's written an article claiming a BBC isn't impartial any more.

This is a great example of the problems the BBC has got. It's suffering a sustained assault from the breadth of the right wing media and perfectly sensible people are getting taken in by it. And of course they are. History shows us that if you repeat similar messages over a long period of time the drip, drip effect you can get people to believe and think pretty much anything. None of us are immune to this sort of thing, me included, though we all like to think we are

That article is clearly very balanced. I particularly like the bit where it claims Nigel farage doesn't get interviewed though by the BBC

Is that a whoosh attempt?

I have just read an article that says Garage has been on the panel of Question Time 33 times. It contrasts this with the fact that Oswald Mosley was banned by the BBC (and every other major broadcaster and media outlet) for over 30 years.

Sorry, but I thought it was such a good point it bore repeating

Did you watch the series ?

I watched that series and thought it was really informing, It shows how easily folk can be manipulated. I did think about modern times and wondered about the rise of the right across Europe at present. The series did fail to focus on the manipulative patterns in popular thought. I felt that it may not have wanted to go there- less someone accuse the BBC of bias :ffsparr:

There are comparisons but not like then.

I didn't think or compare the players to anyone from today. Neither did the series encourage me to do that.

I have said many times that I don't believe the BBC is biased. The fact that both the left and the right wing claim it is shows evidence. They piss both off equally.

What people often moan about is how culturally sensitive they are. But that shows a desire to be impartial.

The BBC has rarely been called out for reporting on BREXIT that wasn't factual. People seem to want them to take sides. I don't- and I don't think they do.
