No show in Worthing. Attempted very light flakes came down at about 8, and then disappeared. Tall bald man seen running down the road shouting "come back, come back, you bastards"

And they show high pressure building over Greenland and our local high ridging to join it. This is how a northerly develops, with the Greenland ridge allowing low pressure to drop down through Scandinavia. So, possibly good news.

"Good news" depends on your perspective - we don't all want snow.

Still, if we can't get a "neutral" forecast, at least it's not patronising like our local TV weather - if it's gonna rain, they feel obliged to demonstrate the use of an umbrella; if it's gonna be cold, they tell us we'll need a warm coat; if snow is possible, they'll blow soap suds over the weathergirl. And that's the BBC

It’s very strange, but after all the build-up last week, with the TV weather experts promising up to 15cms, and the subsequent actual 5 or so cms which quickly thawed, there seems to be widespread ‘snow ennui’. Even the BBC’s prediction of up to 20 cm of new snow in the Midlands in the next few days hasn’t really caught my interest.

I reckon we’ve had all we’re going to get this winter, and I probably wouldn’t believe ‘them’ if they said otherwise *sigh*

Went out at lunch time and by christ I haven't felt that cold in ages! Car said it was 1°, so it must have been the wind chill making it feel a hell of a lot colder

Papa, how do you see the temperature going in the next week or so?

It's looking cold up to the weekend, and then there is a chance it'll warm up... but alternatively it may stay cold.. I'd say it's 70/30 in favour of less cold.

However, Friday morning looks interesting...

However, this is the BBC forecast:

And the same model as above has this for the accumulation:

So, much the same pattern as the other day, with rain on the coast West of the A23. :(

There's a possibility of a northerly for a change Tues/Wed next week, which could deliver something. It may be too warm down here though, and that's IF it even happens!

The current batch of 'weather' is hitting Northern England & Wales as we speak, with freezing rain reported quite widely. This is forecast to fall as snow over a swathe of Central England and Wales tonight, but currently we're not in the warning area....
