Morning everyone.

England have it all to do this morning. I think losing Giles to the last ball of the day could prove costly, as he was a player capable of hanging around for an hour with Pieterson.

State of the match:

Australia 190 (Langer 40, GBH 5/43)
England 92/7 (Jones 30, McGrath 5/21)

Meanwhile, after twice previously threatening to do so, Sussex are trying to take a grip on the match at the Rose Bowl. Hants were 102/6 in the first innings but Sussex let them back to make 309. Then Sussex were crusing themselves at 219/4 but collapsed to 316 - a first innings lead of just seven.

But Kirtles and Mushy ran AMOK in the last hour and Hants are in trouble at 22/3, a lead of just 15.

Bit of a roller coaster ride being both and England and a Sussex fan isn't it !!

If Pieterson can bat for 1 hour with the tail, we'll get within 20 of the Aussies and then its still just about a game. Problem is I think the Aussies will score 300 in the 2nd innings, putting the game beyond us.

Sussex need to bowl Hants out for under 200 as the Rose Bowl wickets get worse very quickly........

Rana can bat a bit too, very important 39 yesterday to get us beyond the Hants total.

If we can get two early wickets it's game over.

f*** England, come on SUSSEX.

Here doth start the late CHARGE for the Championship.

We MUST beat Hampshire methinks. Notts are 4 runs away from victory, with all 10 second inning wickets intact. :(

Yeah, Notts look VERY good this summer. They've got 4 lpayesr over the 600 run mark with Fleming fast reaching 1000 for the season and Sidebottom is bowling really well.

Fair play to them but there is still time to slip up and we're looking pretty strong, if only our batsmen could find form.

I think we're going to RUE letting them beat us early in the season when we had the match by the BALLS. :glare:

Like i've said during yesterday shambles of batting we will be fine, Kevin Pietersen will get us near there first innings score of 190.

I'm not worried about Pieterson but we've only got Jones, Harmison and Hoggard to come at the other end and if McGrath bowls anywhere near as well as he did yesterday tehn we're in deep trouble.

Did anyone notice yesterday how Brett Lee, after releasing the ball, gives out a scream like that of a female tennis player? Is that kinda shit not illegal?

Your allowed to do it, it means your straining every muscle in your arm. Brett Lee now can be called Sharapova.

Hello and welcome to the Cricinfo's coverage of the second day's
play of this amazing Ashes Test match at Lord's
I'm Anand Vasu, and I'll be your commentator for the day.
Amazing scenes greeted a packed house on the first day. Stephen
Harmison began the rout with a fierce spell, and ended with 5 for
        43
But it was Glenn McGrath, the never-say-die metronome, who had the
last laugh, with a five-wicket burst that broke the back of the
        English batting line-up
All of a sudden, with England reeling at 92 for 7, and even getting
there only thanks to Geraint Jones and Kevin Pietersen,
        Australia's 190 doesn't seem so dismal
The second day has dawned cloudy and a bit overcast, which should
help McGrath and a pumped up Brett Lee
The forecast is for a cloudy day with sunny intervals
The temperature should be in a moderate, pleasant range and the
        humidity is not especially high
This match has been set up perfectly, as if to prove that loads of
runs are not the only way you can have an exciting game
The players have come out on to the field now and play should get
        under way any moment
Kevin Pitersen is on strike and he has Matthew Hoggard for company
It will be Shane Warne to start things off at the Nursery End
This should be fun ... Warne to KP
The field is attacking - a short leg and a slip for Warne

Never at any point when batting yesterday did Giles look like hanging around.

I agree. He was even "out" off a no-ball. But he does have the capability, especially on a new day!

Pieterson has decided to TAKE THEM ON.

McGrath goes for a 4 and a 6 in successive balls!
