Pontin still going on about the disallowed catch ffs. And they call us whingeing Poms.
It was a clear drop. I don’t see how anyone can possibly dispute it objectively. You have to complete the catch. He didn’t.

I’m looking at the umpteenth replay and he clearly grounds the ball. How he can then look at the ref in disbelief must mean he is as thick as pigshit. Also surrounding the umpire at the end of the day smacks of Dirty Leeds in their heyday.

Why declare when your flying with over 4 days of a test to play?

I’ve read respected cricket writers view of this, during that test, none enamoured to say the least. Calmly explaining why it was wrong.
Whereas Mike Atherton, for one, was entirely relaxed about the declaration in the piece of his that I read.
If we'd taken a wicket or two it would have been regarded as unconventional genius. That we didn't doesn't alter that the logic of wanting two cracks at the Aussie openers while they're new to the crease is basically sound.
Whereas the 23 no balls we bowled over the whole match were entirely unnecessary, and unacceptably lax from professional bowlers. That's 23 runs given away (for comparison, Australia bowled 4 in the match) plus a wicket that was missed as a result. That's the game thrown away right there, for no reason other than a feckless lack of discipline.
We've bowled more than twice as many in the match as well, and the only reason it's not worse than that is that Cameron Green bowled 6 in the first innings (the rest of them combined are on 3 for the series in total).

Makes me even more annoyed we couldn’t see out the tough early overs yesterday, this pitch is as easy of a batting surfaces as you’ll find with the opponents having no spinner

Duckett's gone. Edges a bouncer to Carey. Out for 83. 177-5
Think the ashes are gone with that wicket. Virtually impossible to win this game now. Virtually impossible to win the ashes from 0-2 down. Oh well, at least it’s entertaining.

Feel really sorry for Duckett there. He just misread it. Superb innings though. So far it's been the Bazball minus 10 percent that some of us have been calling for.

England have only got themselves to blame that they don't need a hundred less than this.
