Ok,lads and lasses lets roll. How are you calling this one ? Saw Austraila at Worcester for two days last week, short on spin batting looks solid and pace attack well capable of 'knocking' us over. Going for a 1-1 draw.

If Freddie stays fit and Pietersen has a few good knocks then I think we can nick it 2-1.

the girl at work I like does happen to enjoy the cricket I think though, so I'll be faking an interest for a month or so.

That's modern Britain for you.

That's modern Britain for you.

It's no worse than people pretending to enjoy tennis for Wimbledon fortnight or people who watch the snooker world championships, or the rugby world cup. I also don't think it's just Britain, or a bad thing. We love sports in this country, just not all year around.

I was referring more to the fact that you, a bloke (presumably) was pretending to understand the lbw rule to impress a cricket-loving bird. Feminism has stormed the last bastion. And PROBABLY a good thing too...

For the record, I presume the lbw law is when the ball hits a leg when it was destined to hit a wicket... I won't lie to the girl if she starts getting techincal... we were talking about tennis this week and she clearly doesn't know anything about it at all. But she had a basic understanding, and I have a basic understanding of cricket. Hopefully I will entice the girl into watching it with me, and I know enough to watch it and not be completely confused.

I like the Ashes, the entire country will be watching the cricket for a change. Personally, I don't know why people don't watch tennis more. I know why they don't play it, £7 per hour for a court!

Will be stuck with BBC's live text updates and whatever highlights package is doled out (whatever happened to that list of sporting events the Government had that were supposed to viewable on terrestrial TV? Must be about two events on it nowadays and the FA Cup will go next).
Anyway, 2-1 to England :)

sky 3 are currently showing highlights of the last home series, currently on the oval, more marvelous scenes. (waiting for todays highlights at 11)

I'm going for a 2-2 draw allowing for a wash out along the line somewhere. From what i have seen so far, i'd be very surprised if the others didn't finish in postive results given how flimsy some batsmen look. Brett Lee is looking in good form, and the aussies look to be struggling against spin, so get off to a flyer at Cardiff and who knows.
