Tony was in Australia - arrived back christmas eve by all accounts
Then it was christmas
Then match day boxing day
27th and 28th to speak to candidates and cary out research into said candidates.
29th match day again.

Realistically tomorrow or wednesday I would say. We HAVE to get this right rushing would be foolish. Hughton and Pulis are big names and we may not get them but we are clearly trying and that can take time.

As Wilko points out, time goes quickly in football. Surely Bloom was thinking and making calls prior to Sami's departure.

Really not convinced. I was hoping that may be the case but evidently not.

I am now 100% sure the board want us in L1 for two reasons

1) one win in 19 and sami was under no threat of the sack. He actually did the decent thing and resigned

2) We could have had our pick of manager if we binned him weeks ago. We didnt and are now scrabbling around.

They really want the best stadium in L1 while Bremtford and Bournemouth make a real go of it at the right end of the table.

Obviously not learnt our lesson then? Did the same appointing Oscar and took a while to get going. Did the same with Sami and look how that ended up. Did the same with tying up the Ward deal, did the same with the Clayton deal, do we ever learn? Football moves quickly in this day and age.

Hope they are taking their time (although a week is not really that long especially with Xmas in the middle of that week) because the candidates so far have not been great and they are going to appoint someone who can not only get us out the current mess, but will also keep the passing style that gus introduced and help bring the youth through.

We take our time, while other clubs decide to change their manager and we go to the back of the queue. Just like our summer targets, we take to long and they get snapped up.we will probably spend the next week watching those linked with us move on to other jobs and when the music stops we will be left with 4th choice.

sleepy little town on the south coast tries to mix it with the big, nasty world to the north........we need to wake the feck up , sure we have a massive catchment area but there needs to be some passion and gritt at playing level if it is expected to be reciprocated by the crowd.......just watch teams like forest , derby , burnley are a prime example....the crowd needs to create an atmosphere but there needs to be something to get excited about happening on the pitch...!!

Really can't see what the fuss is with the Argus headline. Naylors question to the club was probably along the lines of "where are you with selection process. Can we expect to know identity of manager soon". The club respond with a corporate, non committal reply which the Argus quite possibly put its own spin on.

What other response would the argus get? A detailed timeline?

interviews have clearly been almost complete...barring one or two today/tomorrow. Then both the Albion and candidates need 48 hours to consider and respond. I would expect a new manager in place for next weekends match.

It was always a case that Prem teams would scupper our chances.........we may have to wait a week or two now.

Frankly, that is totally our own fault.
It was obvious to most that Hyypia was struggling and out of his depth by early October. We then had a run of six games between the two international breaks. Four of those games were at home. We took six points from those six games, a poor return and no sign of improvement.
He should have been cut loose straight after the Blackburn game ( 8th Nov ) At that point, all managers in the PL looked settled and we would have had a decent amount of time to interview. Candidates looking to get back into management quickly may have been more attracted to us. A new man would have been in situ quicker and we would now have more points on the board.
This isn't being wise in hindsight. I said at the time that he should be judged over those six games. Since then, we have wasted another six games and taken a grand total of three points, including home defeats to Fulham and Millwall.
It was misplaced and misguided loyalty to an individual totally out of his depth and is now making our task of survival considerably more difficult.

Firstly this 'nothing to really report' article was penned by Mr A Naylor - who does not exactly have a great working relationship with our club so unlikely to be 'itk'

Secondly, and more importantly, we all know that Tony Bloom always keeps his cards very close to his chest so for all we know the new manager could be announced today ...

Amazingly, that's the same Andy Naylor who two days ago wrote an article saying Albion were closing in on our new manager. People who are panicking on here, what does that tell you?

Also, we're not talking about taking weeks. Nothing in the article suggests we won't have a new manager in place for Brentford, which was always the most likely. If that's not the case, then people can start to get worried but, as always, people are overreacting to a nothing article!

This appears to be happening again even though there are decent managers currently available and the transfer window opens, now let's see, oh yes, ON THURSDAY!!!

I still can't get into my head why Bloom ignored the evidence of his own eyes. The manager was quickly undoing all the good work of previous seasons. The ship was sinking but the board continued to back Hyypia. The fans could all see it going wrong and were naturally concerned.
You can cite that the players aren't good enough but there was no organisation or tactical nous at all. It was shambolic. He couldn't lead, couldn't inspire and couldn't win games of football. I can only assume that either TB knows naff all about football, is very stubborn and determined not to be proved wrong or is being poorly advised.
Whatever, the wasted extra six weeks that Hyypia spent at BHA could cost us dear.

What a joke of a post. How anyone can seriously think the board want us in League 1 is ridiculous.

What exactly do you think Pulis, Hughton etc would have thought weeks ago? Would they believe no other job would ever come up and take ours in panic at being unemployed forever? No, they would quite possibly have kept their options open for a Premier League job, as they may well do now! Some of our so called fans need to take a serious look at themselves!
