The Albion look likely to win this division by default...

... cos there's very few teams with any kind of clue left in Div.2 anymore. Blackpool were piss poor, like Luton, Wednesday, Swindon and every other outfit before them. It's not at all like the last time when we were here, when the likes of Cardiff, Stoke, Brentford, Bristol City, Tranmere etc. etc. gave us a tough time and were worthy adversaries. This season's opponents are pretty insipid - and that's playing against an Albion side that is distinctly non-vintage.

OK, OK, we'll go up as Championes if you insist...

Swindon were better than us - we were lucky to get a point.

Saying that, we didn't play well and have since stop playing so much long ball. I think we stand a very good chance of automatically going back up, although it is still early days yet.

I think we'll see ourselves, QPR, Bristol C and Sheff W breaking clear of the rest soon. Swindon might stay with us, but they seem to have quite a fragile squad - and Milner's now gone back.

The team I fear most (and it's because we haven't played them yet) is Bris C. They spent money and might be getting their game going (2 good wins in the last 2 games). Sheff Weds might be the team to drop off - especially if their off-field problems persist.

Division 2 football has a lot less quality than division 1 by a long way so what with last seasons experience we should make a good job of it, but don't get too cocky rmember Cardiff and the lap of honour?

Interesting comment about the squad being non-vintage. I happen to think we have a better squad this time around than when we went up last time. Rodger, Roberts, even Butters are superior to those who played last time.

We had a strong core to the team in 01/02, with zamora, Cullip and Kuipers. It now seems we have a couple of decent forwards, a stronger midfield, about four decent centre-backs and a couple of excellent keeprs.

The division isn't as strong, but we are better than before.

I think we can walk this division. The teams we've played so far have been pretty rubbish. Weve loads of injuries at the moment, but were still picking up points. If we can play badly and still get points then that great isnt it!

Agree with Biscuit - 7 out injured and we're still top ! Everyone back fit and a couple of new additions and we should have little problem in going back up.

Let's not get too confident though, there's still a long way to go! Personally I think we could struggle without Leon Knight. Even when he doesn't score (like yesterday), he's still the man setting up chances & we could really miss him (in a Zamora kind of way) if he gets injured.

The quality in this division is NOWHERE as high as the previous time two seasons ago. Nobody like Stoke, Cardiff, Wigan, Reading for example. The so called better teams: Q.P.R., Wednesday, etc we've beaten already at home. Sometimes though we struggle more agains't the so called "poorer teams"
The likes of Port Vale and Wrexham won't last the distance. Flash in the pan's!

Nah, we've got this league sewn up already.. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: May as well just give us the trophy now & have the open top bus parade while the weather is still nice...:salute:

The corner quietly rusting
Biscuit that sig makes no sense its not badly spelled its mis-spelled and anyone who read it back to themselves would realise that.

Bad spelling is when you spell something incorrectly and where it sounds right. so unite would become say unight. (its when you mean it's, their when you mean there etc.)

Now if it said dyslexics of the world untie I could understand it and I might take offence. I mean it's no longer the done thing to take the mick out of people in wheelchairs, and yes I know there are still a few cretins on this board who just might. So why is it OK to take the mick out of another disability that people have no real choice over?

I need a big defeat to bring me back down to earth :D

We're top. We're playing a pretty weak side - although the real test will be seen when/if we have Leon/McPhee out.

A few more wins and we could be quite away ahead.

Fingers crossed. A few more performances like the one at Rushden though please.

Christ lads, reality check please!

We have played well only 2.5 times this season (Qpr for a half, Wednesday & Rushden), deserved nothing against Swindon and were hardly inspiring yesterday (I was bored for most of the game)

Yup top of the league is great but with the departure of Coppell (maybe) and injury to little Leon (going to happen at some stage) we'll be a different proposition

I know its a BHA site but a little more humility wouldn't go amiss perhaps when we talk about our chances for promotion. Its only Oct 5, not May 2004!

Maybe the point is that we're not firing on all cylinders by any means but we're picking up points like they're going out of fashion. I mean, where's the THREAT going to come from? Sure Leon will get injured, or more likely suspended - ever notice that every game the refs refuse most of his claims to have been pole-axed - but while the oppo are mediocre week in, week out, and give our defence not a lot to worry about, then how can we actually fail? Knight/McPhee is hardly the dream team up front but they seem to be about as much as we need in this piss-poor division.

It'll be a shame to see Coppell go but I think we'll go up with or without him. We're top and no one has really worried us. Barnsley and Swindon are the only teams in my opinion who have done a good job against us.

Deffinatly a long way but things are looking good. We're top. Lets enjoy it.

Last time we were here the other teams did have the bit of quality -we won by working hard as a team. This time round, we do have a better squad, and we're still winning with half of them out. This division is crap - light years behind the first division and we should go back up. If if we do get an injury to Knight we should be able to bring i a loan striker to ease the pain. Anyhow, teams have to score against us first - and our defence is looking rock solid - even with Cullip.
