Starting a revolution from my bed
Starts on Friday, I can't f***ing wait. The Ryder Cup is up there with the best sporting events in the world. I will be spending my whole weekend dossing on the sofa watching it.

1 Paul CASEY
2 Sergio GARCIA
3 Søren HANSEN
4 Padraig HARRINGTON
5 Miguel Angel JIMÉNEZ
6 Robert KARLSSON
7 Graeme MCDOWELL
8 Ian POULTER
9 Justin ROSE
10 Henrik STENSON
11 Lee WESTWOOD
12 Oliver WILSON

I think the USA will be stronger this year with the crowd behind them, but I reckon Europe will still just nick it.

I've booked Friday off work so I don't miss any of the ACTION (although annoyingly the Albion are at home, so I'll have to miss some of it). We wiped the floor with them last time, but I hope the septics put up a better showing this year and at least make a GAME of it this time. The last two tournaments have been an absolute procession.

Can someone explain how a team vs. team Golf Cup works to someone who is relatively new to Golf.

The Ryder Cup Matches involve various match play competitions between players selected from two teams of twelve. Currently, the matches consist of eight foursomes matches, eight fourball matches and 12 singles matches. The winner of each match scores a point for their team, with ½ a point each for any match that is tied after 18 holes.

A foursomes match is a competition between two teams of two golfers. The golfers on the same team take alternate shots throughout the match, with the same ball. Each hole is won by the team that completes the hole in the fewest shots. A fourball match is also a competition between two teams of two golfers, but all four golfers play their own ball throughout the round rather than alternating shots, and each hole is won by the team whose individual golfer has the lowest score. A singles match is a standard match play competition between two golfers.

Had tickets for the Saturday at the K Club two years ago. Was one of the most pant-wettingly thrilling sporting atmospheres I've ever experienced – and that wasn't even the singles. Unbelievable how close to the action and the players you can actually get. Will definitely try to get to Celtic Manor in 2010.

I attended all 4 days [inc practice] of the previous one at Oakland Hills. It was the best sporting event I've ever been to, bar none.

I have to say, I think the Ryder Cup is the BESTEST looking trophy in sport. Look, here it is, yesterday.

Sorry you're going to have to explain it in even more basic layman's terms. I have no idea what ponits are.

A ponit is a small furry mammal that is native to North America but can also be found in some of the damper European climes. Usually they can be found forraging in shaded areas and deep undergrowth. Darren Clarke managed to find three ponits at the K Club last time, and successfully clubbed them to death with his pitching wedge behind one of the camera gantrys adjacent to the 13th green.

And I was told watching Golf is boring. I will be glued to the screen all weekend, can't wait to see these cheeky little beasts get their comeuppance.

I'm guessing Tiger Woods doesn't like getting his hands dirty, and thus is not suited to the more savage nature of the Ryder Cup?

No, he's just rubbish.
