New Leicester City signing Ben Thatcher has lashed out at Glenn Hoddle, saying his former manager at White Hart Lane allowed his career to grind to a complete halt.

On Monday Thatcher tied up his cut-price move from Tottenham to the Walkers Stadium, where he has become City boss Micky Adams' eighth summer signing.

The former Wimbledon defender, who cost Spurs £5m three years ago, featured in only 14 games under Hoddle last season, and believes his career is now ready to take off once again.

"Micky Adams and Glenn Hoddle are totally different people," he said. "During my talks with Leicester, Micky came across as a manager who is in a different class.

"But I don't think that sort of description would ever have occurred to me in connection with Hoddle. Do I need to spell it out any more than that?

"Personally, and some other players might share this opinion, I believe I will get on a lot better without Glenn Hoddle. For the past two years my career has been going nowhere fast."

I always thought Thatcher was a pretty decent player, hopefully Hoddle likes Zammo and he won't f*** his career up.

Good to see Micky is still dealing with players properly.

Micky's a smart manager though. All of the players he's got in so far have got something to prove after setbacks at other clubs (Brooker excepted). I'd bet on them staying up no problem.
