Taking off our most creative player literally ten seconds after setting up one of the best chances of the game and bringing on a bloody hair model who hardly touched the ball for the remaining twenty minutes, while at the same time leaving Gross on to basically jog on the spot for the entire match...No disrepect to Davy and I am sure he's a nice bloke but after four years of watching can anyone name one game he ever turned in our favour?

Appalling decision making from an appalling manager. Absolutely clueless. Tau, Connolly, llalana. All on the bench supposedly to be usable to help us win a football match. And he turns to Davy Propper who has looked the most disinterested pleaser in the whole squad this season.

It wasn't even just that it was a poor change (for the reasons you've correctly highlighted), it was that it was the only one. No gamble of putting on a Tau as a wildcard at the end just to try something different. Not even a like-for-like of Lallana with Gross for a bit of extra freshness and legs.

Not sure it was a tactical substitution. Obviously Potter thought the team was doing well and creating chances and didnt want to disrupt the flow by throwing on new players (if he thought things needed to change he would have subbed earlier), so my guess would be that Mac Allister simply was tired. Would I have preferred to see Lallana? Yes... but at the same time, you know..

My mistake then but IMO even more damning...why wait so long when it clearly wasnt working and as others have said, why no forwards brought on when those upfront had been so absymally misfiring all game?

Perhaps the biggest red flag for me was listening to Potter after the game....he seemed genuinely pleased with the performance

I can understand him bringing on a midfielder like Propper in order to keep our control of the game going, and make sure we're not on the end of a last minute Fulham winner, but i'd have liked another sub on at the time as well with a bit more attacking intent. I didnt mind the Propper sub, but the Propper sub on its own was the weird thing for me.

The OP is spot on. It was a LIMP substitution that offered us absolutely nothing in terms of giving them something else to think about. Hell, the first thing The Hair did after strolling on was pass it straight to a white shirt.

We had attacking options on the bench, fresh legs to run at them, but instead we brought on the specialist in tidy 10 yard sideways passes. Against a team with 2 away wins in 29. Pathetic.

well that didn't work too well and only Dunk's intervention stopped that last minute winner..

It was the most Potter substitution I’ve seen. In fact it was the most Potter game of football I’ve ever seen.

Fulham were a shambles and there for the taking.

I see the armchair football managers are out in force. Andy Naylor reported about why potter did what he did with the substitutions. We were playing well, controlling the game and creating chances and he didn’t want to disrupt the rhythm of our play too much.

Makes total sense to me. If we were being dominated or creating nothing then yes make a few changes. Wasn’t the case though.

It’s not championship manager, just Chuck a few forward on and hope for the best.

Which on one level I also understand- we play nice football and Potter can take most of the credit for this albeit with a far better squad than we have ever had in our history.

My point is that we all know the team has no problem creating decent chances BUT if we continue to be so woefully toilet in the box for the rest of the seaon there is every chance we will go down and that would be a disaster for the slow build vision Tony seems to have.

I am not for one second calling for a fat sam type to turn us into a grinding anti-football borefest, but surely results are supposed to count for something and when our charisma free leader perfectly content that we didnt even score one goal against that lot,I think there is genuine cause for concern about his suitability for the job.
