What I am saying is that the ball hit a divot and if it did it was our own fault as we shouldnt have trained on it on Wednesday before it had been flattened etc.

Au contraire. I think we shouldn't have trained on it after it had been flattened.

Does hitting the bar count as on target? Serious question. I have had this argument down the pub many times and have never had a certain answer!

And Davies(?) definitely shot straight at the keeper with a low dribbler at some point in the second half.

No it isnt. An on-target shot will go into the net if there are no obstacles in the way.

Right here, right now
But this one hit the bar and didn't go in so must be off target, Shirley?

course it is, what if it hits the bar and goes in?

What about shots that are going wide until they hit another player and deflect in?

I imagine it's a case of: if it hits the post/bar and goes in it's "on target", if it hits the post and doesn't go in it's "off target". As simple as it sounds.

The question of whether a shot is "on-target" if it hits the bar was settled by NSC at the time Swindon Town claimed to have "really" won the play-off semi-final.

This was posted on 17-05-2004, at 11:35:-

Andy King certainly didn't take defeat well. It was all OUR fault apparently!

"Brighton couldn't be anymore defensive at their place!" It's known as tactics Andy - and it worked!!

When the presenter told him that Swindon only had one shot on target, he replied "what about the ones that hit the woodwork? weren't they on target?"

"Er no!" retorted the Skyman, "If they'd been on target they would have gone in!"

I thought if it hits the bar and stays in play it's on target. Likewise if it hits the bar and goes out of play, its off target ???

Was Seb aiming to hit the bar ? No. He was aiming for the big gappy bit called the "goal". If it had gone in off the bar then all well and good, but thats not what he was aiming for, and its not what happened.

Therefore, it was off target.

Many of the old supporters will remember going to Selhurst and they had a car with large wheels like rollers on it and at the end of each game they drove the car up and down the pitch before any frost or bad weather could get at it.

I'd forgotten that (says a fellow old supporter) but remember seeing it now! I have an image in my head that it was a VW Beetle.

I presume it would only work if the pitch isn't too wet othwerwise it would bugger it up even worse.

£3.99 to watch Forster fluff a 1 on 1 ?

Crikey. I was pissed off at already having paid £400 odd.
