I want to see Root come out tomorrow and play his reverse lap shot first ball.I'd prefer that they batted on for another 15-18 overs tomorrow, and give them two goes with it either side of lunch!
Bazball his way to a double in half a season.

Playing his way.Terrific knock, in the face of a load of people questioning him.
Rooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot
Working hard today?Stumps 302/7
Great recovery. Batted Root, and really well batted Ollie R, too.
And perfect timing to now switch over to the Euro draw!
I think you are right. This pitch is going to keep deteriorating, first innings runs are going to be massive
The perfect time for Joe Root IMHO, something to prove and a situation that called for him to do what he does best (bat a long period)
Anyone else think Pope has got a little bit unlucky with his dismissal? Clearly it was within the parameters of Hawkeye but to be that far down, on the move and for the ball to be clipping the top of leg seems to be pushing it a bit.

I haven't seen it, but I followed his scoring rate on the BBC website, and my thoughts that Root was saying that Bazball has its limits, its time and place, and today fell outside of it.That was a fantastic knock today, on a tricky pitch against bowlers with their tails up. That was Root knowing he owed the team, and Stokes in particular, an innings.
Root will know he f***ed up in the last test, that he played a shit shot at the wrong time, and one that ended up having the whole premise of Bazball and his skipper being questioned for days in the media. That was him paying them back and the celebration spoke to that.
If it means anything, Bazball comes down to people playing how they feel most comfortable. That might mean Foakes scoring at about 2.5 an over, it might mean Duckett leaving 7 balls across his first 10 tests or whatever it was.I haven't seen it, but I followed his scoring rate on the BBC website, and my thoughts that Root was saying that Bazball has its limits, its time and place, and today fell outside of it.
Is that in every single match, irrespective of pitch condition? In India you need to hit 400 in the first innings. Despite our fightback, India are still ahead in this test
Not when it does this, on day 1, surely. In India you need to hit 400 in the first innings. Despite our fightback, India are still ahead in this test
