The main Tesco in Hove is shut on Boxing Day.

I don't get your problem. If I need something vital on Boxing Day then I'll have to get it from somewhere, so why not Tesco.

Don't worry - it will be staffed by Muslims, Jews and Coptic Christians.

That is the price of working in retail. Lets face it having spent Christmas day not having anywhere to go, surrounded by people that any other time of the year you would not even give the time of day too, Boxing Day is an excuse to get out the house and get some fresh air. Shopping is the reason we need to get out.

I hear you but Christmas isn't important to some people. If people want to work to earn some extra money they should be allowed to. Sure, they shouldn't be forced to work.

Anyway, we're talking about Boxing Day and not Christmas Day. Now, correct me if I'm wrong but a few thousand of us will be decending on Withdean to see BHA v Yeovil. Contrary to what I said earlier, the footballers are forced to play (lol). The catering staff are required to work. The Sportsman will probably be open. So why not Tesco? or Sainsburys? Or any shop that wants to open and is prepared to pay the wages?

In years gone past teams played on Christmas Day as well.

Anyway, some people aren't religious. I'm not even Christian myself.

I worked the last 2 boxing days and its great fun.

The chances are you will only work for about 4 hours and if you work the early-ish shift like i did (10-2) your home by the time most families meet up anyway.

And its double bubble and day in leiu!
