Celebrity couple Katie Price and Peter Andre are to separate after four-and-a half years of marriage, the couple's management company have confirmed.

The pair "have both requested that the media respect their families' privacy at this difficult time".

The couple have two children - Junior, three, and Princess Tiamii, who is nearly two.

Price, also known as Jordan, has another son, Harvey, six, from a previous relationship.

No reason for the split has been given by the pair, who met while competing on ITV1 reality show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2004 before marrying in September 2005.

They married at Highclere Castle in Hampshire, with a pink Cinderella-style wedding complete with horse drawn carriages while Girls Aloud's Sarah Harding and fellow reality TV star Kerry Katona were bridesmaids.

The former glamour model, 30, and pop star, 36, have been featuring in their own fly-on-the-wall TV show following their relationship since 2007.

The ITV2 documentary is currently following their relocation to California for three months while Andre records his latest album.

In July 2008, the couple accepted "substantial damages" over a News of the World article which portrayed them as bad parents.

The amount of damages was not disclosed, but half the sum was donated to charity and the other half was put into a trust fund for the couple's children.

I'm not surprised.
They had an almighty bust-up in a shop in LA on last weeks show. They were sheltering in there from the paparazzi, waiting for security to turn up. Peter was gently joshing with Katie because it turned out the shop assistant had never heard of her. She went into full-on dismissive STROP-mode f-ing and blinding at him, reminding him who earns all the money etc. He was only messing about, but it clearly touched a nerve, and the whole thing esculated.

Very sad. I've barely slept since that episode, I just KNEW this was on the cards. Peter is a very full-on emotional guy, and she is something of a cold-blooded reptile, so I'm surprised its lasted this long. I just hope it is an amicable split.

My observations for what they are worth is that Peter Andre comes across every single time I have seen him as a thorugh likeanle and decent bloke. Katie is a very switched on and savvy woman but fecking hard work I would imagine. Andre simply had enough and called time on it. I can GUARANTEE this was Andre's call. Everytime they were together Price seemed to revel in putting the guy down most recently on Paul O'Grady's show a couple of weeks ago. She spent most of the interview putting him down and belittling him He was furious it was obvious but was Man enough to let it go but I thought at the time this hasn't got long left.

Without MUTUAL respect in a relationship there is nothing.
