Tent Shopping

I need to camp it up this week and go tent shopping in Brighton. Does anybody know of any decent quite cheapish shops that would sort me out?

It needs to be big enough for me and a mate to sleep comfortably and maybe SHAG eachother if we get bored.

Don't bother with oh-so-serious camping/back-packing shops or Milletts. Go straight to Argos. Decent quality and good prices

I think they are having a closing down sale as its on the site of the new Sainsbury's development

Millets! Used to work there yonks ago! They sell eurohike which is cheap as chips!

Once you've used it tear it and take it back and they'll give you your money back!

I thought that might be the best place. I like shopping in places named after the owner.

I recommend Argos. I'm also going camping this weekend in Wales with my girlie, but we've nicked her Dad's camping equipment. But, in ARGOS, there is a "camping starter set" including a decent lookin 2-man tent, sleeping bags, ground mats and rucksacks.

Depends on how often and when you're likely to use the tent.

I used to wild camp in the mountains in winter and always bought my tents from Open Spaces (now in Trafalgar Street).

Nowadays, I take the kids in the caravan, so my tent is a Eurohike one from Outside / Millets.

You generally get what you pay for.

A friend of mine has managed a weekend camping trip in an Argos tent that he then took back the next week. He didn't even need to damage it, just said it wasn't any good! Full refund!!

Very close to Avergavenny, which is a 35 minute train ride to the MILLENNIUM STADIUM. Nice.

Open Spaces is good if you want a good quality tent. YHA give a discount if you are a member (but then if you were - you would proably stay in a hostel!). Cheap tents do the job for a few times but lose their waterproofing or tear very quickly.

john's = not bad at all
milletts = ditto
field & trek = dog's but more expensive
place near mvc at the clock tower = has a special offer, tent, bags etc etc for about £40 i think....
