What a way to end the year, my laptop is buggered. Off and On doesnt work

I bought it in September this year too

Before I call numerous unhelpful helplines that comes with the cover plan can NSC help me

When I load up my laptop it gets in OK, and then after about 5 minutes, the screen freezes and jumbles itself up, in horizontal lines.

I then have to turn it off using the off button, and restart it in safe mode. It then works fine in low resolution, internet and all.

But when I restart it normally, the same problem happens.

It was fine last night until I downloads "handbrake" (on advice of Mellotron) but it seems to have buggered my laptop up. Maybe a virus??

I have uninstalled the program and sometimes I get the blue screen of doom.

I guess its something to do with the graphics card, is there away I can put the laptop back to restore factory settings or anything?

Can you get into System restore in control panel?

Handbrake is fine, I've got it on 2 pcs and a mac, reputable company known for being free of viruses.
Definitely sounds like your graphics driver is playing up to me.

System restore should do the trick, just put it back to maybe a few days ago, or when your laptop was working fine.

Reboot and see what happens - it should auto-install a driver from its repository - now whether it's a working driver or not remains to be seen.

thank you one and all, the uninstalling graphics driver, combined with the system restore back to Christmas Day seems to have done the trick
