I recently recorded some programs off the tv onto my DVD recorder but inadvertently didnt complete the process hence the disc will not load completly to play.

Tried putting it in E drive of PC and creating a disc through Nero to F but no luck.

The DVD plays on my pc or laptop could I connect from my lap top to the input of the dvd recorder and rerecord a new disc using my laptop instead of the TV as the source, provided I can buy a lead that goes from laptop to a scart socket on the dvd recorder.

Or is there a program on the net that would record the dvd from one drive to another and then finish it off to be able to be played on DVD Player

So it plays on your laptop or PC ok but not on a DVD player attached to your TV?

On my dvd recorder, after burning a programme to disc, I have to click go to set up > disc set up > finalise.

Finalising the disc allows it to play on other dvd players.

You should be able to put your disc in and finalise it.

Another point to consider is whether the dvd player you are using is compatible with the blank disc you used. They come as + and - (i.e. dvd-r, dvd-rw or dvd+r, dvd+rw). Some dvd players (and blu ray players) will only play one type.

Mine is the same but I think that I may possibly have failed to finalise it, not sure.

When I try to load it a row of moving bars shows it is loading and goes through about 10 or 12 bars but when it gets to the last one it just keeps going and not finishing loading.

Does it stop trying to load? If so when it stops trying to load, try finalising it. If it doesn't, I'm not sure I could help.

if it loads on your laptop can't you just extract the video from the DVD and then burn a fresh, properly finalised new DVD that works on everything?

why dont you drag & drop or (copy & paste) on your laptop.open nero,go to photo & video, the go to make dvd, then add video files.Either open the folder where you dragged & dropped on your laptop.or drag video file in to box in nero.It should check files now,(to make sure it can do task) then click next.Takes you to title & chapter menu's.if you dont want menu click.Dont make menu's.Click next,I allways write to hard disc now.But you can write straight to disc.
This is NERO 7 but anything newer will be very similar. If you can watch it on your p.c -laptop you will be able to use Nero.Dont forget you can finalise it with Nero also.I dont know if this is the info you required. But good luck anyway.

That is what I wanted to do but how do I copy the DVD to the hard drive and then copy it to a new DVD.

To extract the video into mp4 format use HandBrake

- it's free and works great....

Then bring the movie file into whatever you use for creating DVDs on your computer that can be played on ordinary DVD players
