I have bought web cams for my three sons so that we can talk to each other, cheaper than phone calls, but one of my sons cannot get his MSN to work properly.

He can see and hear us and we can see him but not hear him. What could be the problem and how does he solve it.

Obvious one first: Does he have a microphone and is it plugged in?

:p

Or is it one of these flashy video/mic combined jobbies?

Failing that, get him to get a pad and pen and write out his replies and hold them up to the screen! :lolol:

The 3 web cams are all the same and 2 work perfectly but not 3rd we have switched them around so it is not the web cam but something to do with his PC or settings or MSN or whatever. How an he check it.

I would suggest he reloads the drivers. Sounds like something went wrong when he installed the Cam's software. I use several different cams and find the the problem you have is always down to the installation.

Thank you I will pass on your thoughts for him to try.

I might also suggest he goes to the cam's manufactuers web site and see if there's any later drivers and software thanhe already has. This is a good idea and I do it from time to time to all my peripherals.

Firewall settings maybe? Check that the webcam software is authorised to send and receive data. Just a guess.
