I have my PC set up in my spare bedroomwhich the grandchildren use when thy are with me, if not I use it, but when they are here I use my laptop in my lounge via Belkin wireless but every few minutes I get the message can't access that site i.e the internet has disconnected. I then reconnect and carry on but this gets a bit tedious. Is there any way I can keep the internet connection or is its loss due to the set up.

Possibly could be related to the strength of the wireless signal coming from the router in the bedroom or various electronic devices interfering (wireless land line phones, microwave etc).

The make up of the building may also play a role (thick walls, metal frame etc)

A host of variables i'm afraid.

It is likely you are getting interference from a neighbour, although it could be all manner of other things (as clippedgull said). Try logging in to the Belkin Web Configuration page (RTFM) and changing your Wireless channel. There are only 13 channels available, and most people don't bother to/know how to (delete as applicable) change the factory default (depending on the manufacturer is usually 13 or 11).

If you have Windows XP then you can download Netstumbler which will show you what channels your laptop is picking up (i.e. your neighbours networks). http://downloads.netstumbler.com/downloads/netstumblerinstaller_0_4_0.exe

If you have Windows Vista you can try: http://www.techidiots.net/autoit-scripts/vistumbler/VistumblerInstaller7.2.exe

Also while you're there you might want to check your Wireless Security is enabled. (RTFM for more details).
Or you might not...
