Beat Southampton and we’re as good as safe...

Would take a losing semi at Wembley and staying up now. Providing palace don’t beat us or win the cup that is.

I'm guessing if it is United or City then that is pretty likely anyway. So I'd settle for your suggestion.

This is kicker isn’t it? Would imagine the football gods have something up their sleeves for a potential semi final.

Then IF they beat us there they’ll claim it eclipses the two league games.

If they go on to lose the final (again), it'll mean nothing.

We might not make the semi-final anyway.

I’m beginning to think CH is setting the stall out - his Independent article seems to suggest league over cup and given injuries/suspensions expect to see makeshift strike force/midfield and second XI back five. Annoying but understandable I guess.

Am I right in thinking that if Man City or Utd get to the final, does that mean the other team gets a European place? As both City and Utd are already in European places?

Not anymore. I think you have to win it to qualify for Europe, otherwise it goes to the highest placed team in the league that hasn't already qualified.
