Starting Duffy against Liverpool's high press would be football suicide.

If Potter has been saving Biss for this match then I think there's a case for the inclusion of Mwepu, both to help him out and to get forward into Liverpool's box if Lamptey gets any joy in behind Robertson.

Sanchez
Veltman Dunk Webster
Bissouma
Lampty Lalana Cucurella
Mwepu
Maupay Trossard

Maybe Potter will see Newcastle as game to win and save Bissouma and Lampty for then. Have put Mwepu in as he looks our best prospect of a midfielder able to support forwards. Appreciate that may not be priority at Liverpool

I’m just thinking that we need to be very solid at the back in terms of height and strength with some pacy wing-backs who can track fast Liverpool players but also help in attack.

We must be competitive at set-pieces so need to play our best back 3 for taking offensive set-piece chances.

Then we need fast and tricky forwards to hit the ball long to who’ll be able to hopefully keep Robertson and TTA on the back foot.

Just swap in Mac Allister for Lallana and I’d do a little wee wee of excitement. Won’t happen but a guy can dream.

I would go with that with outside chance of Mwepu unseating Moder

These.

I too think Mwepu has worked himself into real contention.

AlliMac as a starter on Weds is unlikely to start here, though he's another really staking a claim - he should get minutes off the bench, as I'd imagine will March.

Whether or not Biss will be picked to start is still a bit of a question mark for me - is half an hour in the cup enough to prove match sharpness (and justify displacing someone else)? I'd stick him in personally, but I suspect he'll come on as a sub.

Not starting Duffy against Man City was football suicide - (after the team had committed football suicide)
But starting Duffy against Leicester was almost a football resurrection.

Despite the bizarreness of the premise, and I readily admit it's bizarre, this season, this team, has played better with Duffy than without.

I'm a realist at heart and can only see one result, whoever we pick.

So the best outcome for me would be no more than minus two on our GD and none of our chaps pick up an injury - we will want to pick strongest possible XI for the Saudis ...

As ever, whoever misses out, in this case Gross, Duffy, Moder, Mwepu, MacAllister can count themselves very unlucky

Can we play with 2 goalkeepers?..and have a smaller goal?

If we start Locadia then stand him in the goalmouth, that'll make the goal quite a bit smaller. Tie his hands behind his back and put him to Sanchez's weaker side and he'll make for a decent bit of protection.

I was thinking this too, but with Veltman for Duffy, just because he is a better footballer which I feel we need.
Mwepu is proving to be a proper attacking midfielder and with his height he can help support the two up top.

Klopp's Liverpool press in a way never seen before in English football, whereas Man City save their energy for the counter-attack.

I'll be the first to say it because I think it will also play out in the Liverpool match - we miss Ben White.

Think this is the first time ever I've put Brighton to lose on Sky's Super 6

I really can't see GP starting Lamptey, Webster, Biss or Mwepu for the Liverpool game so will probably choose three of these as subs to come on at some stage of the game. So I will go for:
Sanchez
Veltman - Duffy - Dunk
March - Gross - Moder - Cucurella
Lallana
Trossard - Maupay

Beat me to it! This would be my side. Allows March to track back when defending so another player (or 2!) can keep Salah in check.

Very much this.

Duffy playing out against the Liverpool press could be a Halloween horror show.
