Team for Bolton

Stockdale
Bruno Dunk Hünemeier Bong
Ince Stephens Kayal Baldock
Hemed Lua Lua

Subs: Mäenpää Rosenoir Murphy March Greer Holla Manu

Baldock can cross better than Lualua and Lualua can shoot better than Baldock. Obvious to me!

I've seen many clueless team selections on here, but yours are always the worst. Ince right wing, Baldock left wing and LuaLua up front? We tried playing players out of position under Hyppia, how did that work out?

I'd definitely bring Uwe back for Dunk. He is as good as Dunk if not better and brings the best out of Bong and Greer.

No idea why you have Holla on the bench. Bloke is no where near up to the standards we've set this year.

Rest is decent

I think we need two midfielders on the bench, Ince has one spot. If Crofts is available then he is the obvious choice, but if not, and with Caskey out on loan, Holla is the only option. (Unless I've missed someone?)

I've a feeling that Zamora will start in place of Hemed, only think this as he was substituted against WW with a slight strain. Maybe this is an opportunity to rotate them.
Stockdale

Bruno-Greer-Dunk-Bong

Murphy-Stephens-Kayal-Lua Lua

Baldock-Zamora

Subs: Maenpaa, Rosenior, Hünemeier, March, Ince, Manu, Hemed

Provided all our players are fit:

Stockdale
Bruno Greer Dunk Bong
Rosenior Stephens Kayal Murphy
Baldock Hemed

Harsh to drop Dunk after getting a cleansheet in the last game, I'd stick with him again for this match.
I think CH likes Rosenior away from home to provide added protection to Bruno at RB.
LuaLua has of course been brilliant recently but very harsh to replace Murphy who has also been great. I'd start with Murphy for this game and then go with them both in the home game vs Cardiff.

Also the defence which conceded a goal vs Rotherham up against one that didn't against Wolves. What a great position to be in that we are debating the merits of Uwe or Dunk!

Sure are. Also worth noting the Rotherham goal was a set piece (I think Hemed was marking the man that scored), so as a CB you don't REALLY count that as a normal goal - not a lot they could have done to prevent it. also Wolves were obviously down to 10 for the second half! Agree though, great position to be debating which of our 3 (possibly 4) good CB's to play...!

Trust you to put something ridiculous and completely against normal thinking. Ince and Baldock on the wings instead or Murphy, LuaLua, March or Manu. Lualua as striker instead of Baldock or Zamora. I really think you post things to get a reaction, you cannot be serious, must be a wind up.

Hodgson brevity

Back four is sacrosant (almost) and you can arrange the front six about anyway you want. You still can't play on both wings at the same time though. Can't have two advancing full backs (wing-backs) either. Not at the same time where is where Hyypia went wrong!

I'm into total football, not the specialised functions (Baldock and Lualua should swop roles at times). I'd go for roughly the same side that played at Ipswich, although I would start Ince instead of Rosenoir. (Not much difference, Ince for his height and Rosenoir cause he can get wide and put in a cross.)

Hodgson football (at bit like CH) tends to be a bit rigid and much more suited to club football than the international stage. Hoddle calls for 4-3-3 and I agree with him, although 4-4-2 can just be taking off an attacking winger and putting on a more defensive midfielder, e.g. Ince or Rosenoir instead of Murphy. (I would choose Murphy if I thought he could shoot or cross!)

Are you Sami in disguise?

Baldock was poor out of position last season. Are you suggesting Ince out wide? or not a 4-4-2?

I thought that Kayal had received 5 yellows but am obviously mistaken so for me the team picks itself:

Stockdale
Bruno....Greer.. Huneimier.. Bong
Rosenior.. Kayal.. Stephens.. Murphy
Hemed.. Baldock

Subs: Maenpaa Dunk Ince Lua Lua Zamora March Manu

Different ways to set up the 4-4-2. (not 4-2-4).

There is a bit of a problem with the surfeit of Albion right-footers. But Ince slots into the middle of midfield allowing Beram Kayal or Stephens to push forward. Baldock should be on the right hand side. But he could swop wings.

Essence of four across the middle in 4-4-2 is one of the four can push forward and there is still three left to cover. Unfortunately, with 4-4-2 the tendency is not to have any proper wingers at all, just wide midfielders.

Anyrate, CH at Ipswich replaced a winger with Rosenoir. In essence, I would use Ince instead of Rosenoir from the start instead of bringing him on later.

I can see you really want to play Ince, how about putting him in goal instead of Stockdale?

I get that to a degree but this leaves us very narrow and not very pacey. Rosenior can play as a wide midfielder and is quite quick. I would rather see Ince in front of the back 4 allowing Kayal and Stephens to push up.Can't see Ince getting past a full back and crossing.
