There a lady in the Brazil Women's National team that throws in the same style. I would love to try but would end up breaking my neck

Is a 'flip' throw actually legal? Wouldn't the ref award a foul throw or give a foul for dangerous play?

I'm certain it was banned by FIFA a few years ago for some technical reason.

Still AMAZING though. Surely it's TOO powerful for football though. It would go to far

3 rules for a throw in, both feet on ground at point of release, thrown over the head, and feet behind not on the white line.

It's legal.

Stand aside rory delap, you're sh1t

Can't see why it isn't legal. Law reads:

At the moment of delivering the ball, the thrower:

faces the field of play
has part of each foot either on the touch line or on the ground outside the touch line
usesbothhands
delivers the ball from behind and over his head

The thrower may not touch the ball again until it has touched another player.
All opponents must stand no less than 2 meters from the point at which the throw-in is taken.

The ball is in play immediately after it enters the field of play.

Ah ok. Yeah I thought I had heard it was banned but I must have imagined it. Wouldn't you just LOVE to be able to do that!

The chap said that when he had done it during games some refs had ruled ita foul throw but the FA have said it is perfectly legal provided both feet are on the ground etc at the time of the ball leaving his hands.

Have seen Andy Legg hurl the ball great distances but do not remember him ever doing a somersault to achieve this distance.

It is very easy to stop just leave a player standing virtually on the touchline.

Arthur: "All opponents must stand no less than 2 meters from the point at which the throw-in is taken."

And if they do stand close... see McShane in the 79th's video for the result!

I could be wrong but I seem to remember someone running down the slope between the south and west stands and doing it

Ian Wright was talking about this on the Live on 5ive show last night saying how incredible it was.

His female co-presenters said "I don't get it, why doesn't he just kick it in"
