Funny how people see things. I thought he did ok, but he has lost his electric pace which was his main asset, and I’m not sure exactly where he fits now. I don’t think he’s defensively good enough for RB, and he’s not a winger. I’d have liked to have seen Veltman start last night, we needed his calmness and nous. Harsh as it may be, it’s one position I’d be looking for an upgrade next season if I was in charge.

It’s interesting that, for whatever reason, RdZ just doesn’t seem to fancy Veltman

One of the few positives on a bad night. I thought he was outstanding, back to his very best.
Agreed, I thought he was a positive. Him and Adingra worked so hard and tried to be positive every time they had the ball. He’s actually been good every time he’s played this season, it’s great to see, I’d written him off as a first teamer for us in the summer.

He just seems to get straight back into form after coming back from injury too, it doesn’t take him multiple games to find his feet unlike other players which is probably essential with his injury record!

The one that fizzed across the goal about a yard out? Don’t think it’s his fault no-one got on the end of it imo.
I need to see a replay but live he appeared to play it into an area (where no one was) despite having loads of time to get his head up and pick someone out.

I think I know what you mean and I also think, at times, why didn’t he pass? On the other hand I hear a lot of players talking about getting it into the right areas for some one to tap in. It’s probably a never ending debate tbh :D

He was alright but when he got in behind right at the end and passed to no one was really infuriating.

Had loads of time to pick someone out for a simple finish.
The only player available to pick out was Welbeck. No one else was in support.

Joel is a safe pair of hands for sure, but offers little to nothing as far as an attacking option is concerned. RDZ loves his wing backs, and both Tariq and Pervis excel in that role.

Given how many goals are we conceding might not be a bad option

He did the right thing there. If he had tried pulling it back, there were Roma defenders between him and our attackers. The ideal thing in that situation is to play it into the space that the attackers should be running into to try and get on the end of such a ball.. I think this is part of our problem - we wait for a bit more overplaying and passing to feet, and don't go for the obvious.
