if you happen to be interested in either history in general /army history or even military vehicle can i recommend the Tank Museum at Bovington in dorset, its an excellent day out and you can easily spend all day there .

and if the ladies in your life are not interested then monkey world is just round the corner, again a good day out.

Did they do the display in the field? Good isn't it. Should have popped into Clouds Hill as well while you were down there.

I went last September and they were in the middle of constructing the new "Tanks through the ages" display, bit gutted as it was where the only T-34 was so could only see it from afar.

The Tiger & Jagdpanther are spectacular pieces of kit.

I think it's pretty poor, actually. And I say that as someone who (a) is very, very interested in history, (b) runs a museum, and (c) is co-director of an independent exhibition company.

It looks good, but it lacks depth.

Went last year. Thought it was pretty good. Was made better by the fact that they fired up a massive tank in the hangar and drove it out and around a bit.

I've been a couple of times. By far the best was the time they had the demonstrations (no, not crusties with placards) round the arena. I had no idea modern tanks were so fast. They'll be doing that this week (half term) and in the school holidays.

Detling show ground in kent, they have reenactment weekend, not sure when in the summer though, well worth a visit , loads of WW2 vehicles British and German on display plus reenactment groups covering various parts of military history , you may even be able to join up if your that keen

they only do the tank display during school holidays and on special festival days so unfortunatly no,but by donating gift aid you get a free pass for a whole year although you cannot visit on special days!

the display through the ages is excellent it took 3 hours to walk round that alone and then i didnot read everything on the displays.
