Could this be impaled at the top please?
As Strummer would say, this is a public service announcement (with guitars - and lots of beer!)
GOLDSTONE COMMEMORATION EVENING, Thursday April 26, ten years to the day, at the Volunteer in Lewes. Making our presence felt in Lewes just before the local elections, raising money for the Seagulls Party and drowning our sorrows in style on a very sad day for all Albion fans. Above all, making the point that TEN YEARS after the destruction of the Goldstone we still haven't got the go ahead for Falmer, and the culprits are a few streets away....
NB! The Volunteer is not as it was before! It's under new management, run by an Albion fan (Lucy Crook) who some of you will know - she was at the last game, she and her friends have some seats and other memorabilia (which will be brought in on the night) and she is very keen to host this event.
They now have 2 real ales (Harveys and a guest) and the Dark Star Brewery have kindly offered to donate a 9 (72 pints) of their wonderful Hophead, 100% of the takings from which will be going to the Seagulls Party. Admission will be £5, all of which will likewise go to the Seagulls Party - although it won't be a Seagulls Party event (for electoral reasons)
I hope the candidates who will be standing will be able to make an appearance nevertheless...
Bracknells?
I thought we might have an ad hoc Goldstone memorabilia exhibition - anyone who feels like bringing along souvenirs taken on the fateful day is welcome to do so. I will be bringing some grass(!) I also thought it would be a good idea to dedicate a short part of the evening to people's memoirs of the last game, and the battles which preceded it. The mike will be available to anyone who wishes to make a short contribution along those lines.
Wanted to get some different people to provide the live music this time, all of course dedicated fans. I have asked Steve North (Build a Bonfire co-author, actor and bandleader) to bring his band. I'm thinking of asking a bunch of Albion fans I found on myspace called Livingston Freeman to play (they sound pretty good) Any other suggestions?
And if anyone DOESN'T want all the recorded music to be punk/ska/reggae - bring something
along (as long as it's not Phil Collins or James Blunt)
Hope to see many of you there. We need to do something that day..and we can do it in a good cause.
Cheers A
