Anybody seen this ? I just have and I though Brighton came out of it rather well. Not a great film but interesting.

Watch the other night - was ok but the facts re Brighton were crap. Suggested that he went to Leeds without going to Brighton. Also, other than Brighton Pier (which was Palace Pier then surely) the seafront picture were not Brighton.

Bear in mind the film is based on the NOVEL - its was never totally based on fact. Just look at the famous Clough / Revie TV interview on YouTube. In the film Clough gets a right pasting from Revie, but in reality, Clough absolutely OWNED Revie in that interview. So they do bend the truth a bit.

I still enjoyed the film though.

I thought it was a great film. As someone who get very bored easily with films and rarely watches them to conclusion, this one kept my attention to the point that i watched it twice.

And did you know its 36 years ago TODAY that Clough & Taylor took their seats for the first time as manager of the Albion.

A dreary home fixture with York City was turned into a carnival.

That was the day that the Albion started on an amazing amazing decade.

Brilliant film and the outtakes on the DVD - deleted scenes - are superb too and perhaps give a much darker insight into Clough's personality - particularly the sacking of the Revie's secretary and the failed mission to get the Leeds players to dance together in the changing room

Well spotted.

Put 10,000 on previos home crowd and I was part of that 16,000 crowd who saw a porr 0-0 v York.

I know, it was unreal. Especially as a week or so earlier there's only been about 5000 of us watching us win 4-0 (against Southport I think). Saward had just been sacked and the Albion were managerless for that fixture. At the end we demostrated and demanded Saward was re-instated! It would be a bit like people calling for Slade to be re-instated only to find that the club had lined up Alex Ferguson as a replacement.

I remember that 4-0 - it was evening game and Brighton played like a weight had been taken off their shoulders.

The Clough period was a strange time for me. I only saw about three or four games under his stewardship as I had a Saturday job then and could only go to evening games - although there was a bit of a bonus when we started playing on Sundays (I can't quite remember why, something to do with the 3-day week).

I remember seeing us beat Rochdale, I think, on a Sunday, it was a hefty ground and, IIRC, they couldn't charge for Sunday admission so we had to pay for programmes to get into the ground.

"In the short time Peter Taylor and I were at Brighton we had two main problems. First, the players couldn't play and, second, they had been seduced by their environment into believing they were stars. That combination is bloody dynamite. We got out quick." - Brian Clough, November 1975
