We were 1-0 up with about half an hour to go. We had weathered the storm for the first 15 mins of the second half. We then bring on two subs and try to go defensive. They see this and bring off a defender and bring on an attacker, result they win 2-1. Mr Poyet got outdone by tatics. Anyone else agree?:(

I dont agree as Poyet brought on the subs to relieve the pressure on the midfield and it worked. We were beaten by bad defending by us and good defending by Norwich although having watched the FL Show I am now convinced that Doherty was climbing all over Elphick although at the time I didnt see it.

It was an amazing tactic for a top-of-the-table side with high-waged, experienced professionals, some at an international level, to bring on more attacking players when losing 1-0 to a bottom-of-the-table side. How did he think of it? Genius.
We all know it's never a good idea to bring on Carole in general, but the arrival of Dicker granted us occasions of space and Hart we know is a battler and could unhinge their monstrous back-three.
Poyet has a limited arsenal, and has to do what he can with it. We looked good for over an hour, hardy and steadyminded, but couldn't keep it up. I took good things from the game and good things from the way Gus was too.

all part of the learning curve for a new manager tel,he did what he thought was best,it backfierd bigtime,he knows that better than any of us mugs and hopefully wont make that mistake again, quite enjoyed the game gutted about the result but at the end of the day we have narrowly lost to a championship side and no single player can be blamed for the defeat so the whingers put the boot in on poyet, understandable and very predictable, and possibly correct to a extent...though why some people are calling for his head already is totally beyond me.

I suspect you didn't see it because you were too busy trying to blame Kuipers, as usual.

He made an honest mistake, pure and simple as we lost the game. Just seen the Doherty goal and it was fine, not for the first time this year Ephick was wrong side of his man. Game is all about opinions mate, but I think Bensgrandad has some weird ones, I think he said somewhere about play El-Abd in midfield ???? we have never won a game with El-Abd in midfield as simply he is not a midfielder, a reserve defender at the most as he makes between 3-5 mistakes every games.......fact not opinion

Sorry but I completley disagree. We didn't get a kick for first 15 of 2nd half, then Poyet made the subs. After this we got hold of the ball more, Dicker especially, and created a chance to finish the game which was somehow cleared off the line. They scored because we let their winger waltz into our area to tee up holt (who is much more effective than murray) and because we couldn't defend the set piece (kuipers did not have to come for that IMHO). Additionally, Carole was not as terrible as everyone says. Another day we would have won but ultimately are defence is rubbish. Elphick, Virgo, painter & Calderon are not good enough. You have defend for the whole game, 90 mins concentration or you undermine all the good work.

We have had two seasons of "retaining our league 1 status", we haven't won at home in the league since the 13th of October and the manner in which we were beaten yesterday is what has got everyone a bit hacked off.

If we had have won everyone would have been hailing Gus today but know he makes some shocking changes which supposedly relieved pressure on the midfield when in fact it just created space for them to tear us to shreds against the piss poor Carole, which in turn allowed them to exploit our defensive frailties.

Even if Doherty was climbing all over Elphick, Carole was so piss poor he gave away a stupid free kick from which they scored. It is NO coincidence that we are 1-0 up after 60 minutes and as soon as the changes were made we end up losing 1-2. They may have been attacking, but we sat deep and they couldn't break us down, it seemed all of the starting players were up for the fight accept Poyet. We also had 55% possession as well.

He is a tad clueless with his tactics at times. Why Gary Hart? He offers nothing. Yes he was good for 7 games last season but he still didn't score, hasn't done for 4 years or so and has been out of his depth for me time now.

We need points, yesterday was a massive opportunity to get something. Expectation was in the air and the atmosphere was good and then the subs were made. More points dropped at home, the closer we slip to our inevitable relegation.

The Chairman has gambled and gone for a totally inexperienced manager and allowed him to cut his teeth and learn his craft with a side desperately fighting relegation. Quite naturally, he is making lots of mistakes and these are costing us dear and may ultimately result in relegation.
The big question is how quickly will Gus learn from these mistakes.
What is apparent is that he hasn't got a clue what his best side is yet, which is very worrying with only 16 games to go. He is chopping and changing and tinkering with players and tactics and none of us are any the wiser.
Perhaps the real root cause of the problem is that we have a genuine lack of class in the team. Too many ordinary players who are ' much of a muchness '
Gus is trying to give everyone a chance but it is making little or no difference. For a long time now we have been saddled with players who can't concentrate for 90 minutes and until we bring in new blood that can, we will continue to struggle.
Most clubs in Div.1 are fitter and more disciplined than us, with more self-belief...thats why we are in the bottom 4.

We played for the first hour like an away team with two banks of four dropping deep and inviting Norwich to break us down, this worked pretty well with Norwich playing the ball in front of us but not breaking through. Unfortunately our front two found it difficult to retain possession of the ball as they were being overwhelmed by defenders and support was not arriving quickly enough. It appears that Gus thought that bringing on Dicker and Carole would help us retain the ball, it didn't work, as we all know now, but although it turned out to be a mistake it wasn't a stupid idea.

to be fair to Gus i can see where he was coming from, put 5 in the middle as we was getting bullied in there, that leaves bennett on the left and LuaLua on the right, LuaLua was getting tired and offers nothing defensivly. Carole was a fresh pair of legs and defends a very slight bit more that LuaLua. Not GP's fault, we did not take our chances and defenders let us down... again
