So whose chainsaw was it? 16 year olds aren't, so far as I am aware, allowed to buy them.
Dumb speculation. Sycamore Gap is at Hadrian's Wall and on the Pennine Way , part of a defined official footpath, and brings money into the local economy.if it was one of the most photographed trees in the world then it would have had hoards of people going there. Its not a leap to think therefore that is is a disgruntled land owner/farmer weas annoyed that his sheep are disturbed/ gates left open/ litter etc.
I don't think Columbo will need to be called in on this one.
Indeed, but it's a **** with a chainsaw, and I find that worrying. It's just some ****. Not the whole world. I'm still nice. Lovely in fact.
Just like 100 yr old oak trees getting felled, all because we need to get to Birmingham 15 mins quickerSomehow this tree had passed me by. Seeing the image in the report of when it was standing it’s easy to see why it was much admired and loved by so many.
Utterly moronic to cut it down.
Suggesting violence against a child...?There's enough wood in that tree to make a cross . . . The rest can be sold to buy large nails.
THen put it all to good use on the fucktard that cut it down.

we don't know who did it yet, they've arrested a 16 year old, 16 is not a child.Suggesting violence against a child...?
You're going to get crucified for that.
I've cut down trees that sort of size on my own, and after carrying the chainsaw some distance - but I did have a bloody great bar, probably something like 16-20". Looking at that, it's someone who knows exactly what they are doing though - they've got the mouth size right (the wedge you take out on the side it's going to fall), and looking at the lines made by the saw on the felled tree - they have gone through quite smoothly, and neatly - and with a very clean fall looking at the tear. It also looks as though there is paint/chalk on the stump - unless that's something to do with the investigation.I do wonder what goes through someones mind to think 'I know I'm going to chainsaw that big tree that's in the middle of no-where', yes I know it's not the middle of no-where but it's the equivalent of me going up to Ditchling Beacon to cut down a tree. It's not an easy task cutting down a tree so there's no chance he was on his own. It's just so random.
