Imagine the outrage there would be right here on NSC if Palace were to win this year's Championship play-off final, and Andy Johnson was to wander around the pitch after the game with an English flag bearing the slogan 'f*** OFF BRIGHTON'.

I'd laugh. Sticks and stones 'n all that. It would be quite pleasing as well because all the Millwall and Charlton goons who think they hate Palace will see where the real rivalry is.

To be honest I'd be quite pleased, it showed they still cared even though we'll (probably) be two divisions apart.

I agree with the general consensus that it is a terrible waste of police time and resources (as for Roz South), but it is symptomatic of current thinking about what constitutes grevious racial, cultural, religious, social and political offence (everything) and what constitutes a bit of banter and piss-taking (nothing). Some might object to the words and imagery but by football standards it was just par for the course. Let the FA deal with it internally.

PS - I'm actually developing a bit of a soft spot for Cardiff and I'm always pleased to see them win. This is probably because I've always had time for David Jones as at Southampton and Wolves, for vastly different reasons, I felt he wasn't given a fair crack of the whip. Off to take my medication now.

How about the ENGLISH football association throw them both out of the ENGLISH league and everyone would be a lot happier.

If you knew anything about British football HISTORY, you'd know that there is no such thing as an ENGLISH league. Cardiff, Wrexham and Swansea don't play in an ENGLISH league. They play in the FOOTBALL League - a league that has no hard and fast rules regarding the nationalities of its member clubs.

Both Cardiff and Swansea became members of the FOOTBALL League in May 1920, when the League's chiefs invited a number of clubs who had previously been members of the SOUTHERN League to join their organization.

Two other WELSH clubs (Merthyr Town and Newport County) accepted the League's invitation in 1920, as did various ENGLISH clubs including Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace, Norwich, Portsmouth, QPR, Reading, Southampton, etc. All of the new members of the FOOTBALL League played in the newly-formed Division Three (South) except Cardiff City, who were immediately elected to the Second Division because the Bluebirds were getting bigger CROWDS and had more MONEY than the other SOUTHERN League clubs.

Two more WELSH clubs, Aberdare Athletic and Wrexham, took their places in the FOOTBALL League in 1921.

It's just as well that the FOOTBALL League has a few WELSH members, otherwise it would have been very difficult for the League's management committee to justify playing all of its major finals and play-off games in WALES over the last few years. The latest example came on Sunday, when WELSH club Swansea City won the FOOTBALL League Trophy at the Millennium Stadium which, as you know, is situated in Cardiff - the capital city of WALES.

i would be more upset if one of our players was so stupid to do something like that - and selfishly spoil what should be a day of celebration and a happy memory for our Club.

If a Palace player did it - it would not bother me. It just makes the person involved look stupid.

How come the FAW deal with any Football League disciplinary issues involving Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham?

Obviously I appreciate they're Welsh clubs, but as they're not playing in the League of Wales, why do the FAW and not the FA get involved in matters like this one, or other disrepute charges?

Would the FA step in if a Berwick Rangers player mooned at some East Fife fans, say, given that Berwick upon Tweed is in England?

And how do the respective FAs ensure equal standards are being applied if there are two different organisations disciplining clubs in the same league?

I'm curious as to what would happen if, for example, Wrexham's players got in a ruck with Chester's, I presume the FA would deal with Chester and the FAW deal with Wrexham? In which case you could have one team getting dealt with more harshly than the other for the same offence.

Somebody enlighten me

???

Give over LB, we all know the Millennium Stadium owners are even skinter than the Albion!

When they were offered the FA Cup final, play offs and so on, they bit the FA's hand off and were down the bank faster than Simon Jordan's spray on tan dries.

Two or three rugby games a year don't pay the bills, in fact it wouldn't surprise me if the FAW had personally supervised the hiring of Wembley's less-than-efficient builders in order to ensure another few games.

:p

In a way it's a shame the games will move back to Wembley in due course. Granted, Wembley's going to be an awesome arena if they ever finish it, but the area around the stadium doesn't quite have the same pleasant atmosphere and array of bars that Cardiff has. I enjoyed our play off day out, can't imagine the local pubs & kebab shops of North London will be quite so fun.

It's a historical thing. The FAW deals with all disciplinary issues involving Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham simply because the Welsh clubs are affiliated to the FAW and not the FA.

If there are problems at a game involving a Welsh and an English club, then the clubs are usually dealt with by their own national associations. However, there have been a number of instances whereby the FA's have held joint inquiries.
