Look how far we've come ...

Forty years ago, when we had one of the worst Sussex sides I can remember, we drew our first two games against Somerset (with one IT Botham batting at number 8) and Leicestershire (where we were 64-7 at stumps). In 1975, we ended up bottom (by some way) - we only won two matches all season. Times certainly change

I cannot believe that yet again we wait until the final day of the match to win the game! Poor in anyone's books and commensurate with a poorly run sporting institution. Questions must be asked.
Surely!

Great win, but I am sure the inspectors may yet deduct us all our points for playing above our stature. Its just not cricket....

Lets pray for rain next game, as they will surely allow Durham to play hard against us to let us know our place at the top table, and whip us in two days.

I would hardly say 2 wins at the beginning of the 2015 CC season is the zenith of our achievements.

We did win 3 first division titles in the 2000's.....how did the song go when Murray hit the winning 6 at Notts? We've won 10 trophies in 10 years?

As for a nadir, when Grizzly took over I am sure we were bottom of Div 2

This is poor form. Such disrespect for bigger counties.

If we keep fluking these day 4 wins, we might end up in the World Super league with Surrey!

Plain embarrassing, that the bowlers are patting each other on the back for taking a paltry 40 wickets, in these games. The great Mushy would have had at LEAST that many by himself, at this stage of the season.

I didn't say it was a zenith: I was just thinking back 40 years to 1975 and how poor we were then. It was the year I did my A levels and I was looking forward to a summer spent at the county ground ... and we were basically whipped solidly.

Yes, we were bottom of Division 2 when Grizzly took over ... but that wasn't 40 years ago, or 20. It was the fact that it was exactly 40 years ago that made me look up the scores from that year

Sussex are performing like a marathon runner who has set off far too quickly. They are bound to come last. Robbo ought to speak to Christ Hughton about how to properly conduct a relegation avoidance campaign.

Good post. There are a few around who will remember that 1975 season "fondly". I was only 6 years old so a bit young although I did attend, but my eldest brother (16) and his friends were very keen fans of that wonderfully hopeless Sussex team. They created the "Austin Parsons Stand" out of the old Cowshed... :)

1975 was my first year as a junior member, age 12.

We were woeful, I spent much of the season collecting autographs because it was more fun than watching us get spanked by the likes of Hampshire.

I can't believe I didn't have the faith to go today, despite being there some of each of the first 3 days. Oh me of little faith. Shazhad looks like a top signing, great attitude as well as ability.
