Sussex v Somerset

Mendoza

NSC's Most Stalked
i left after the downpour at 64/4, we wer 8 behind on the d/l method.
it took me about 45 mins to get home, in which time, we got on and hit 60 odd runs

marvellous scenes.

the ground looks like glastonbury with mud everywhere !!!

was there standing in a hail storm, then 2 hours later, glorious sunshine with 2 or 3 clouds in the sky and boiling hot, then rain.

looked for all the world no further play and the 1st defeat of the season, but oh no, the 2 man team come back from the dead

Is that the second pitch where they park the cars or the main pitch. There was a very wet muddy area on the bowlers run ups (Jon Dew end) on saturday when I went for a beer at the ground. Just thinking that could be a problem for the 4 day game. However the weather is going to be better.

You are spot on, Trigger.

Does ANYONE understand how to calculate R/R?

Next games:-

Sunday, 04 June 2006

Glamorgan v Somerset, Swansea, 10:45
Kent v Sussex, Tunbridge Wells, 10:45
Middlesex v Essex, Lord's, 10:45
Surrey v Hampshire, Whitgift School, 10:45

Wins for Surrey and Middlesex would be helpful.

Providing Essex don't win all their games then 2 wins from the last 4 games and we are there, even 1 win and 1 non result/tie would do if we have the best run rate

LB ready for this

Run Rate

A teams net run rate is calculated by deducting from the ave. runs p/over scored by the team throughout the competition against what teams have scored against that team.

In the event of a team being all out in less thatn their quota of overs, the calculation of its net run rate shall be based on its full quota.

Only matches where results are acieved will count.

Duckworth/Lewis

Team1 will be accredited with Team2 par score on abandonment off the same number of overs faced by Team2

Where a match is concluded by D/L having been applied at an earlier point in the match T1 accreditied with 1 run less than total reqd. by T2 off the total number of overs allocated to T2 to reach the target score.

You asked:lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :lolol:

Thank you for that.

I think I'll stick to the 1+1=2 thread. Much easier.

tomorrow we'll be discussing the duckworth/lewis method:lolol:

Cricket, lovely Cricket. Who remembers that calypso sung by Cy Grant? on the Tonight Show?
Anyway, is it not wonderful to be supporting a winning team? After all the dire stuff at Withdean this is a wonderful tonic.

Its hard to explain the simple pleasure of cricket to the yanks but try getting them to understand the run rate and duckworth/lewis calculations would be near on impossible:shootself

Yardy could be out for next few matches with either a dislocated or broken finger.

As I understand things if Sussex win 2 of the next 4 C&G games only Essex would have a mathematical chance of tying us and winning the group on run rate. Essex still have to play Gloucestershire.

I stayed to the end as hoped that there might have been a little more cricket when it start raining again! Fantastic stuff and going to lords looks even more likely!
