Shame to lose wickets at the end, we need a big score as there is plenty of rain to come yet.

What's happened to Yards this season - his place must be in doubt if he continues like this.

We need a big score from Murray or Grizzly today

Saqlain passport update
A message from the CEO...

Sussex CCC Chief Executive Gus Mackay would like to keep all you supporters in the loop with regard to Saqlain Mushtaq's current situation.

"We're working with Saqlain and other advisors in order to get his passport processed as soon as possible. We hope this will come through in the next few weeks - though of course nothing can be confirmed as yet. When it has been approved, Saqlain will be available for team selection."

'Saqqy' has been working extremely hard both in the nets and on his fitness. He is seen most days on the outfield in some capacity or another, and he is desperate to get playing again.

He has also been a fantastic influence on the young spinners at the Club, who now have a wealth of experience and knowledge to call on with Mushtaq and Saqlain both around - that's not forgetting Mike Yardy who has ODI wickets to his name!

All in all, Saqlain has fitted into the Sussex family with ease, and we are all looking forward to the day he pulls on the martlets for the first time.

...is this still the position?

Just found this...

Why Saqlain had to wait
By Bruce Talbot
Coach Mark Robinson today defended Sussex's decision not to give Saqlain Mushtaq his Championship debut.

Leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed took 5-91 as the county bowled out Durham for 209 but the big talking point at Horsham was Sussex's decision not to play their Pakistan off-spinner.

It was made by Robinson and skipper Chris Adams five minutes before the line-up was told to the players at 9.45am.

Robinson said: "It was a desperately difficult decision to make. If this had been a normal English summer we would have played two spinners but there was a bit of moisture in the pitch at the start which was a factor.

"We took into account the forecast of rain later in the match and the fact that Durham's strength is in their bowling.

"I think we've proved by bowling them out for 209 that we hopefully have enough to bowl them out twice without Saqlain and that there is enough depth in our batting to put Durham under pressure in their second innings.

"It would have been hard to drop anyone."
