Squad is

WA Adkin
JE Anyon
WAT Beer
BC Brown
CD Collymore
MW Goodwin (c)
LJ Hatchett
AJ Hodd
CD Nash
MS Panesar
MJ Prior
OP Rayner
LWP Wells
Yasir Arafat

Guesses for team anyone?

I reckon that one of Hatchett and Adkin will play and Luke Wells will probably get a game. Surprised to see Thornley not in the squad and with Joyce and Yardy missing, it will be interesting to see who opens

My guess is

Nash
Wells
Brown
Goodwin
Prior
Hodd
Yasir
Rayner
Anyon
Panesar
Hatchett

A nice rest for Colly

Is Gatting injured? Seems odd to not give him a game

Well yes, him and Thornley are surprise omissions. I thought that Prior might be rested for this game too but judging by the lack of batsmen, he'll probably play

not sure the league will look favourably on us if we field a weakened side. Worcs will be v. keen to win this one just in case Glamorgan slip up.

I think they will play Colly if they've made him take the trip to Worcester.

Are there any more games at Hove? I always feel September cricket helps to hang on to the last of summer, that is already shooting off towards Autumn.

Good point. If he's on coach, then he'll probably play.

I don't think the ECB can do anything about a weakened team - I don't think there are the same regulations that there in football.

I'm sure you're right - just suspect we'd cop a lok of flak if we let Worcs win an easy one to go up... wouldn't be a great end to a good season!

What is up with Joyce?

He missed the last game with what was reported as a) an illness and b) an illness in the family. I don't think I saw an official statement from Sussex on what was wrong

I think Prior will want to play so that he keeps in shape for England Tests.

Argus saying

Collymore's absence suggests an "announcement" about his future might be imminent.

Someone said at the last game Middlesex have offered him a two year deal, we only offered one.

I'm happy that Hodd's staying. Brown look's good enough to play purely as a batsmen in the CC and will take the pressure off him

Just confirmed by Sussex. Collymore leaving at the end of the season to join Middlesex on a two-year contract. From the Sussex website.

Good luck Colly.

Think that's fair enough. I can't see Colly being effective in the first division, particularly in a couple of years time.

Good luck to him, he's been a good player for us but if the rumours about Amjad are true, is he going to get much of a game - particularly if Hatchett comes on?
