Has there ever been a better couple of days for Sussex sport?

A fine win by Sussex over a good team, leaving them five points off the top.

Six wickets by a Sussex player (a Sussex-born one at that) to win a test match - against a tough team too.

And a win by the Albion against one of the best teams in the division - in front of the TV cameras.

Perhaps there have been better days (when Sussex won the Nat West cup in '78 we beat Millwall 4-1 away - that was pretty good) but there can't have been many of them.

Let's hope we have a few more.

Well said Gwylan

I am proud to be born and bred in Sussex.

Success in Sussex is sweet (try saying that when you've had a few)

During the 1980 Olympics in Moscow 3 of the 5 Gold Medals that GB won went to sportsmen from Sussex:

Duncan Goodhew - Comes from near Chichester
Daley Thompson - Crawley
Steve Ovett - Brighton

I agree with all other comments - Sussex is great!!

John Snow was my first sporting hero!

Was Thompson born in Sussex though, BOL? John Snow certainly wasn't.

I'm really chuffed about Kirtley's achievement as he's the first Sussex-born Sussex player that I can recall making an impact for England (Parks was fading a bit by the time I started watching).

There are a few Sussex-born players waiting in the wings at the Albion, to join the three that are already in the first team.

Not sure about Thompson Gwylan - I seem to remember at the time the Argus banging on as though they'd invented him.

As you say Snowy wasn't born in Sussex, but he played for us, and he had a couple of really good tours in WI and Aus during my formative years of following cricket. I felt the same way about Greig before he decamped to Packerland.

Agree re local talent at Sussex, and the Albion.
