Ignore last post about pitch. Several balls have kept a bit low and now Finch has been done by one that hardly got off the ground...

No way this will reach Day 4.

I see Burns is 74no for Surrey. A shoe-in to replace Cook over the winter, surely?

So,

Warwickshire on 174 points are 67/3
Kent in 2nd on 157 points are recovering at 137/8
and Sussex 3rd on 148 are 162/3

Should be batting at 3 in the next test and drop Rashid.

For me I'd have let him open with Cook - it would have been great experience for Burns as well as familiarising himself with the test side and batting on his home turf.

Jennings is a busted flush - his technique is simply not good enough.

Warks 83/4 - so hardly marching towards the title.

Jennings is a good player of spin - 100 on debut in India wasn't it? I would be astonished if he doesn't open the first test in SL so for that reason I'd keep him in for the Oval.

Sussex collapse to 204/6 - so typical
