155/4 currently, missed the 4th wicket because I was in the bar.
If you saw the small crowd at Headingley for the Hundred and wondered where Yorkshire's cricket fans were I can tell you, they're all here. I was genuinely worried they'd tell me they'd sold out when I arrived at the gate.

Looks absolutely stunning, that’s a lovely picture of a day at the cricket. Could not be further removed from the light, glitz and wham bang thank you mam 100.

From the YouTube stream, it looks busy there but also that people seem to be having a lovely day out in the sunshine.

Hope you are enjoying the day #jealous

I'm stood behind a fence nattering to a guy from Leeds (who it turns out used to play cricket with Mark Robinson). This is the only spot available because you have to be tall enough for your head to stick up above the hoarding. :lolol: It's a lovely day and I'm working in the basis that standing up will burn off the alcohol from the beer I'm drinking.

Sussex 65/2 from 16 chasing 261ao. Silly run out at the start but rebuilding nicely and a big six from Clark just now has helped the run rate.

Unfortunately the clubs success (or fortunately) in The Blast has subsequently seen the squad decimated going into this competition.

A chance for some of the younger talent to stake a case for more of a role in the second half of the season, sadly it doesn’t appear any of them are staking a strong claim.

Slightly more concerning is the poor form of Clark and Haines in general the past few weeks.

Haines more of a concern and it would appear on a downward spiral at the moment since being involved with the England Lions a couple of winters ago. I’m not sure his off the field antics are helping his case and his general lack of commitment / effort behind the scenes.

Can you give some context about this?

Really disappointed to hear yesterday that my lad wont be offered a contract this year.
I wont go into details, but hes really gutted as hes done everything asked of him this season - and had a really good one at that so far. Even outperforming some of the other youngsters in the 2nd xi when hes had the chance.
The door isn't closed completely, and he will see out this season with the Academy and the 2nd xi - but if he has a good winter down in Australia for Tamworth, then theres a chance he could still sign next year.
After all the time, money, and hard work hes invested into Sussex over the last 8 years, I really hope it happens for him.

Oh no, poor Frankie. He looked like he was doing pretty well. Hope he does well for the rest of the year and convinces the powers-to-be that they've made a mistake.

Cheers Max. Feeling properly deflated this morning if Im honest. Hes been scoring runs for fun lately after his injury woes, & performing really well in general - but theres obviously something still not quite pushing him over that threshold yet.

Thats tough to take but dont let him give up. Cricket in my day was purely judged on performances. Bowlers and batters were expected to look outstanding with wickets and runs in Sussex PL cricket before they would be considered for 2nd team and then would have to perform there to get a 1st team chance. Now players get on staff and 1st team without ever getting a fifer or a hundred in senior club cricket.. I think there maybe of face fitting now and youngsters judged on Academy performances which is no where near standard of top club cricket. Dont know who he plays for but if somebody wants to be a pro batter its 100s that get you noticed and bowling sides out if a bowler. Just look at how well Finch has done at Kent since released at Sussex.

Sorry to hear that but I am certain he will get a chance again, maybe snapped up by another county or by doing well at club cricket.

Cheers guys. As I mentioned earlier, the door hasn't been completely closed on him, but you do kind of feel that hes running out of time. Final year of the Academy, now 18, and hes seen the likes of Dan, Archie, Henry etc all sign rookie deals by their 18th birthdays. Im sure he will keep plugging away - but yes, other counties had crossed my mind already.
