They've stepped back from the suggestion of reducing the number of County sides, in favour of smaller divisions, to make for less matches.

One top division of 6, Two equal second tier leagues of 6, with a play-off between the two league winners, for a single promotion spot.

Could be worse, in that Sussex would still exist and the championship would get a decent part of the good weather.
More force feeding of the hundred though. I hoped it would be marginalised and passed off as the previous guy’s idea. Looks like they remain fully invested unfortunately.

Problem with The Hundred is that they have committed to this with Sky until 2028 so they probably can't afford to get rid of it.

The same thing happened to Alsop in the first innings. The umpires may be ex-players but they haven't got much clue about the Laws.

On the basis that in the 2nd image I can just see leg stump behind his legs, and he appears to be on his crease, I'd suggest (purely on the basis of those two images) that the balls hit him in line with off stump and would have hit leg stump halfway up.

I don’t think you have been watching England and Sussex this summer, with vastly different outcomes to your observations

...and you would be right as I hate cricket and dont watch it at all

I was simply putting across an opinion which a LOT of people have about "traditional" cricket...especially the youngsters who DO enjoy T20 / 100 etc. more than first class. Its exciting and entertains in a short period of time - which is exactly why they market it towards that demographic. Just look how many families go along to those games who would never normally touch a Championship game...but may be tempted after testing the waters with the short ball game. The interest in cricket is ramping up massively because of it, which can only be a good thing for the game? ... although I do understand the arguments the red ball fans have.

Just for balance - my lad loves the T20 & Hundred, and goes along to as many games as possible BUT, he also really enjoys the longer format - & has spent most of his summer playing 3 or 4 day games.

There is room for both, despite the traditionalists insisting it will be the death of the sport.

The frame rate of the video, made it impossible to stop it at quite the right moment. That still is BEFORE it hits his pads. Watch the video.

Good analysis to talk about being able to just see leg stump and the point of impact.

Two problems.

1. The sheer geometry of the angle of the ball flight from where he's bowled it.. Point of impact to be hitting leg stump would actually have to be outside off stump unless it's straightened a lot which it didn't.
2. The second image is frozen quite a bit before the ball hits the pad. No way he was so late bringing his bat down. The impact is closer to middle/middle and leg.

Outrageously poor decision - quite uniquely bad at professional level.

I don't think traditionalists think the Hundred will be the death of the game because of the format. It's everything else

With this one, the bowler wasn't nearly so wide on the crease, and the ball was a lot fuller. Wouldn't really have any complaints about that one in isolation. But it isn't, is it!?
