[Cricket] Sussex CCC- 2022 Season Edition

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
What is Rawlins actually for - can't bowl, can't bat, can't run between wickets...... specialist idiot.

I know I should not comment because what is put forward to represent Sussex is a disgrace. You cannot have this continuing without changes at the top but nobody is willing to make a decision. I am sure Saisbury will say we are unlucky with injuries but Finn only played 2 4 day games last season and Garton has been injury prone for years. Gone into this game with 2 outstanding batters 2 on loan bowlers. no spinner, . Have to add our best bowler missed first 4 day game to attend a funeral and the next one to go to the dentist

Salisbury has to go. His usual post-match comments were absolutely tone deaf. Realistically, it is hard seeing us win all season.

Can we cancel Alsop's loan?

Kent have recalled Stewart. And Sussex have been deducted a point for slow over rate from this.

The next game is going to be tougher!

In defensive of the Sussex hierarchy, they have tried and attempted to put things right. Nothing has paid off though as just 1 draw and 2 defeats from 3!

It’s pretty embarrassing at the moment, we’re miles away from being competitive. What a mess.

People having a pop at Salisbury but I'm not sure what he can do: Archer and Robbo are in the hands of England. Finn, FHP, Ibrahim, Garton and Carson are ill or injured. Coles is at school this week.

I see that Brown and Salt have both made runs this week ... if only they were playing for us but we're a poor county and we're going to lose a lot of our best players. Salisbury can't magic thousands of pounds to increase their salaries.

I think the club is on the right track: Grant Flower has a good reputation as a coach. Grizz is back in the Sussex set-up, We have a lot of kids playing at the moment - not all will make it but Orr, Clark, Ibrahim and Carson all look excellent to me. I'm afraid that I don't see what the coaches see in Rawlins but that's just one player.

The club, I'm sure, had low expectations for this season but they've been hit badly by injuries, which they couldn't have predicted.

What's interesting is that Sussex are mirroring what the Albion are doing. They can't afford big name players so are investing heavily in youth to develop for the future. The time to look at whether that works or not is in a couple of years.

If Ollie Robinson comes back we will be competitive.
He has single-handedly propped up the bowling for years.

Time to rest rizwan from wk duties to concentrate on his batting. Give alsop the gloves

I am sorry that is wrong. Sussex did not lose Salt. Wells Burgess Briggs and Brown because they wanted more money. Finn hardly played any 4 day games last season so dont know why club think he is now fit enough, Garton has been injury prone for years. Club have known for months that Robinson and Archer are contracted to TCB
Hard to understand. Have replaced experienced players with untried youngsters and at same time have retained large well paid non playing staff. Dont worry overseas players will be available for 20/20 and will be fewer injuries

They're playing at some kind of sub-Minor Counties level atm - county league level, if that, and to expect people to pay their hard earned money to watch the shit that they're serving up is taking the piss, imho.

Spot on! Both the cricket and off field management have been a disgrace for years. Utterly shambolic

On the plus side it's Day 4 and the weather is set fair for a super round of golf.

I don't think Brown wanted to leave until he was stripped of the captaincy...

I follow, hardly ever go, but frankly, the people running SCCC need a big dose of what Archer got. But fan protest doesn't happen in cricket, does it? :)

It really isn't the same, John. The club are struggling financially and are trying to work out the best way to produce a competitive team. No-one is 'on the make'.

I don't agree with some of the decisions, but I'm a life long fan and understand the difficulties (although not the entire situation).

Last year they prioritised 20 overs, which is where the cash is. They got to finals day.

Most of us prefer the longer format on here, but have also to face the fact we watch in on free streams and give diddly squat to the club.

The have and have nots gap is huge in cricket. And Sussex are in the latter.

But wash your mouth out for putting Archer in the same breath, old son. Unless it's Jofra Archer. But like Ollie Robinson, he isn't available to Sussex at present. Sussex have a load of bowlers out.

Imagine if Archer, Robinson, Finn and Garton were the seamers. That's some attack.
