And another one - 39-3. If we could just get Duckett out now...

Good balls from Finn to remove both Haseem Hameed and Joe Clarke.

If he can please stay fit for most of the summer, how wonderfully novel it will be for Sussex to have a quick bowler of a good age and experience, who isn't going to get dragged off to England duty every time he hits any form.

Approaching 100 partnership, and looking very, very comfortable for this Notts pair.

No surprise that strong Notts batting line-up piled up a big total on a flat pitch.

Good test tomorrow for the youngsters to try and hold on for a draw.

They went from 200 behind to 150 ahead in about a quarter of an hour. .

Tom Alsop looks like he’ll fit in.
Weak dismissal in first innings.
Then in the field Inexplicably jumped from first to second slip mid delivery , and spilled Mullanney who then went from 49 to 192.
Then a horror show of a caught behind second knock - chasing a wide one, so wide , that he struggled to reach it.

Ali Orr very impressive though.
We will almost certainly lose, but it’s been a competitive effort against one of the best sides in the country.

This - 3 of the top 4 for Notts have played at very high levels, (the other played for Derbyshire) then in Mullaney, Moores, Hutton and Fletcher there's an awful lot of experience. They are in Div 2 for a reason but they're very strong.

The strange thing is we took apart their highly accomplished top order for buttons.
I remember from last year that notts don’t do tails though. Their number 11, Fletcher, has butchered us in the past, I recall. So it wasn’t a major failure that their lower order destroyed us.
Ah well, a scrap of hope followed by major disappointment. It’s good to be back.

PS
Notts are in div 2 for a reason , yes, but a very unusual one. They had a poor season in 2019, then covid came and everything changed. Last year they were the third best team in the country but the divisional structure is based on 2019 finishes. So on more recent form , they should be no where near div two.
