doesn't sound nice: building collapses in london

Central London building collapses
A four-storey building has collapsed just 100 yards from New Scotland Yard in central London.

The emergency services were called to Dean Farrer Street in Westminster at about 1608 BST on Tuesday.

A BBC reporter at the scene said the whole top floor of the building had been blown away and eyewitnesses say they had heard an explosion.

Two urban search and rescue vehicles have been sent to the scene to search for possible casualties.

Let's hope it was caused by gas leak or something and is not something more sinsiter.

Oh and that no-one has been hurt or killed.

Right by New Scotland Yard apparently, which sounds ominous, although in a building undergoing restoration, which doesn't.

The renovation thing would make sense. BBC news made it sound like a bomb or something sinister.

So did Sky News...

"Sky's chief political correspondent Jon Craig went to the scene and said that one witness had heard a bang. He said: "The top of the building is completely collapsed, it reminds you a bit of the Brighton bomb at the Grand Hotel in 1984."

Don't know about anyone else but that makes it sound like it was our bomb.

Surely it should be the "IRA bomb, at the Brighton Grand Hotel, in 1984?
