Having read the thread I really need to ask, is the ‘t’ in ‘Lerkot’ silent or pronounced? I have an image of a geeky human wizard named Lurk-o or a huge orc if it’s Lur-kot.

I also grew up vaguely knowing two people named James Bond just to be more on topic.

I once had a teacher Mr Gaye , someone told me later that he had changed it . Would I change an embarrassing name.? Probably not, I would view it as disowning my parents… BTY , can anybody tell me why so many young black footballers have double barrelled names these days?

I once had a German colleague called Berndt Koch. Which is probably fine, if you're German :moo:

A well deserved “dig’ in my opinion. Why announce a name change before it happens, if it does? Simple “look at me” PR by LH - if MV had made the same announcement you’d have been all over it like a rash.

It's a brilliant mother's day gift IMO. Making it public maybe made his mother's year?

So what Mouldy, who has all but ruined the F1 thread with constant sniping at Lewis Hamilton, that was supposedly ITK (but not) is talking about, is this.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...hange-name-mother-carmen-surname-larbalestier

Subtle as a brick.

I've also seen reporting that Lewis isn't intending to change his surname - he's intending to add his mother's surname as a new middle name. So he'll still be Sir Lewis Hamilton. He'll just be Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Larbalestier Hamilton instead of Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton.

Aren’t Mothering Sunday gifts normally given on the day? Not two weeks early.

PS - I’m not an LH hater but I don’t find him a particularly endearing character either - brilliant driver though which is the main thing.

In 1999 I bought Warcraft 2 Battle Net: Edition and was very eager to play so I used smashed the letters to get a Battle.net username and it turned out "Lerkot". I thought it was nice, unique and a bit fantasy so I used it as my username everywhere and when in my early teens when I turned into a bit of a d-celebrity by being a bit of a wonderkid writer (about my home town, football and e-sports mainly) , people would occasionally approach or confront me by my nickname so when I turned 18 I just decided to adopt it as my middle name.

Its quite good because it is always available for me, with the exception of Instagram where some girl took it before me... she looks much better and has a lot more interesting life than me though so I try to just consider it free PR of the Lerkot brand.

The problem with old social media profiles is that they get forgotten and then more permissions/setting become available, so they are easier to lock down, but only after the last time you were logged in. Then you let people know what your old profile name is/was.

Then people get an insight into the 'special interest' groups you're a member of :lolol:

You may not care, but let me know if you want a reminder of the site & I'll DM you

Given the character traits it requires to get to and stay at the top in FI (ego, demanding 100% from everybody around you ensure you achieve your goals and the need to dominate your team and team-mate), the most successful drivers (multiple WCs) have never been particularly endearing characters.

Lauda
Prost
Senna
Schumacher
Hamilton

Like you say - brilliant drivers but probably not bothered about being nice guys.
