We got any surfers on here?

Looking for somewhere to go next summer did Croyde Bay summer just gone and its a top place but would like to try somewhere else in the UK but without downgrading on the surf. I'm very far from from advanced having only done a week or so surfing. Any suggestions most welcome.

You could try Sennen Cove, far west of Cornwall. Gwynver at the north end of the bay has great surf, but is very often red flagged.

Only trouble with going that far west is that there are not many options for surfing on the South Coast that are lifeguarded.

This is Sennen earlier this year, when my inlaws were there surfing.

Prth (or Polly) Joke beaches (Nr Crantock, Newquay) are ace but not guarded.

Also try Holywell Bay which is guarded and perhaps Fistral Beach. Both near Newquay.

Near Croyde you have Woolacombe and Saunton Sands, both good surfing beaches.

Near Croyde you have Woolacombe and Saunton Sands, both good surfing beaches.

I believe they are better suited to less experienced surfers too, there is also a very good network giving details of local conditions.

Croyde can be very demanding for the less proficient.

not a surfer myself but if you have not been to the dingle peninsula in kerry then have a look at the place, the brandon strand side of the peninsula has miles and miles of quality surf beaches and if the winds in the other direction the inch strand on the other side of the mountains is as equally superb. i know you stipulated uk but that part of eire truly is a angler and surfers paradise.

Doubt there is anywhere better than Newquay. There are numerous beaches there which all have different types of surf, and if the waves are not on one, you can usually find them on one of the other beaches.
The following link is of uk surfcams. It's not been working for a few weeks for some reason, but worth saving as it is a good site (usually) Live Surf Cams

I would definitely recommend Cornwall. Holywell Bay isn't a bad call, decent size and not massively populated. I would avoid Fistrell beach like the bloody plague in Summer - it will be ridiculously busy and chock full of absolute c*nts.

My two personal recommendations would be Gwithian Towans, not far from Hayle, and my very favourite beach in the UK, Chapel Porth near St Agnes, which is about 15 miles west of Newquay. Both of them are fully life-guarded up, but you need to check the tide times as CP is very small at high tide, but goes on for miles at low tide, especially with spring tides.
