In between all the personal abuse and name calling on NSC I think I have managed to glean that:-

a) we won't be signing Ben Bugess and

b) there is an apparent difference of opinion between the Chairman and Manager on our target for this season. DK wants mid table, McGhee wants higher.

Could some kind person who was there give us anything more that came out at the meeting that might be of interest and relevance to Albion supporters, please?

If so; many thanks (he says more in hope than expectation!).

IF that is true I can only assume funds are NOT available to the tune of 100k??? Why spend money trying to get out of the division if the board are happy with consolidation?

I am starting to feel a bit sorry for Mr Mcghee about this - something is going on behind the sceens and I do think the club maybe hiding something.

I have the feeling I won be the only one annoyed if Mcghee goes and suddenly there is money to spend that could have helped last year.

and seriously where is Dick Knight?

Lack of transfers may stem back to the boardroom shenanigans at end of last season.

It could be (but please don't quote me on this) that Tony Bloom mutually agreed to MM staying (as per DK's wishes), but on the provisio that he wasn't going to put any more money into the club/transfers (probably hoping that MM will f*** it up and get the shove anyway!!).

Sorry to add to all the doom & gloom on here, but just my thoughts. Hope I'm wrong & we do sign some players - only time will tell.

I'm still a season ticket holder incidentally, and I will be going to Rotherham (away games easier for me). Regardless of what is going on, I will ALWAYS support the club through thick & thin. I know most people are fed-up, but please don't stop supporting the youngsters. They need us!!!!

Whoever is in charge (on & off the pitch), the current players need our full support. I for one intend to give them every encouragement when I go to the games. They & us are the future of this club.

Your thoughts & comments, please.

There was a couple of other very interesting bits of info:

McGhee spoke very honestly about the Bloom furore. He revealed that he had been given the choice to take the remainder of his 14 months contract or stay. He said he could have had the money and already be in another job by now. But he chose to stay, much at the prompting of Dick Knight and Martin Perry, because he still felt optimistic about what he could achieve in Brighton.

So it appears the money was available to pay him off.

Dick Knight also said something interesting about our fabled Arsenal connection. Apparently we had been tracking a creative midfielder of theirs and had held some early discussions about him joining. This week, said player joined Birmingham on loan - because Birmingham paid the Arse £100,000 (that's not to buy the player, just to LOAN him).

The moral of the story, I'm gleaning from Dick's info here, is that it doesn't matter how good your contacts are with a club, it's cold hard cash that increasingly dictates loan moves of good players these days.

He didn't mention the name of the player but presumably it can be found out by looking who joined Brum from Arse on loan this week, apparently they got two players from them.

The main interesting point of the meeting is your point b) above. McGhee is going to be a much bigger thorn in the side of the board this season in fighting for cash for new players it seems.

Ironically, and this is directed at all of you McGhee outers who want new players in, this pressure would obviously ease if he was replaced by someone far less experienced and more under the sway of Dick Knight than McGhee - Dean Wilkins.

Oh, the one other good thing is that there appears to be some good news about the Falmer saga in the pipeline. Dick Knight appeared to be willing to say what it was but Martin Perry decided he wanted to wait just a little bit to reveal it - "sometime over the next week".

It's not winning the war or anything I'm sure but it might be some little battle we've won with Lewes over something.

News of any little victories in this ongoing fiasco will be very welcome :(

agreed - mr mvhee is no doubt going to be the scapegost for the board, simply because he has stayed loyal to the club when most other managers might have walked out

So LI, if McGhee was given the chance to leave with his contract paid up but Knight / Perry persuaded him to stay then it sounds as though Bloom is calling the shots in the boardroom. Interesting.

As for pressure from McGhee, he's made a good living out of football as a player and manager, whereas Dean Wilkins hasn't. McGhee hasn't got much to lose as his contract will be paid up, he can blame a whole host of factors for failure and walk into a job at practically any Scottish club he fancies.

I'm sure Wilkins would be every bit as vocal for cash and players as McGhee is because:

a) This could be his only decent shot at management, and
b) Knight owes Wilkins for producing such a decent crop of youngsters over the years, helping to finance the Falmer black hole.
