[Albion] Supporter frustration!!!

Why was Verbruggen so annoyingly slow at passing or kicking the ball out? It's not as if we were winning the game and running the clock down. Really frustrating for supporters. Release the ball quicker and stop fannying around in the defensive third. Gives opposition so much time to regroup..

He does it a lot, so often the likes of Enciso and Mitoma make runs to be released for a quick break when he has ball in hand, but he waits for everyone to reset first which kills any opportunities for one

it’s not like he had anyone to pass it to! the amount of times in the second half we ended up going long and losing the ball was infuriating, same against palace. it’s why this two man midfield doesn’t work. impossible to build up and work our way through as we just get overrun every time. and the front four are far too flat positionally, there’s zero movement. was even worse last night as usually pedro is responsible for getting the little touches and flicks which put our attacking moves together, but he was pinned up top in a position that really didn’t suit him. getting ‘another welbeck’ has to be on the agenda, it just simply doesn’t work without him.

Because our analysts assessed that the risk of making a quick, risky pass into midfield outweighed the potential rewards so we made sure to limit the risk.

Of course its annoying for people in the stands who just want a goal or a win, and many times I think we might have taken more risk.

But after throwing several games in the final minutes, I think Bart was rather keen on avoiding helping Brentford do what they're among (if not the) the best at doing... punishing mistakes.

0-0 is frustrating and annoying, especially since they weren't good yesterday and could have been beaten. But conceding a stoppage injury time Brentford winner from a build up mistake - again - would have been an absolute disaster in the psyches of our players.

All things measured, I'm happy about Verbruggen playing it safe and looking for the positions of teammates and opponents rather than "get it up!". If we wanted to win the games, there's a lot of other people who could have made that happen before Verbruggen had it at his feet a couple of times in the final minutes.

Yeah it is frustrating, but actually it doesn't really make any difference.
hoofing it downfield quickly and hoping we get onto the knockdowns is no more effective than baiting the press and giving our attackers time to offer an option.

The problem, is that we don't really create many options.

Yeah - it's the time the players take to reset, which is the real delay in play.
ALways been an issue for us.

Infuriating, but that is the way they have been coached to play by the last 3 managers.
I don't think I've ever seen our goalkeeper make an attempt at releasing a player early.

Option 1 is he releases it quickly. I guess that’s preferable. But if that option is missed, which is easily done, then he has to look further upfield. So often when he had the ball, and the crowd were getting agitated, his outfield options were standing static next to a Brentford player. So you can understand his hesitancy of trying a pass to them. Basically, not entirely Bart’s fault.

When we viewed the FH St Pauli videos before a PL ball was kicked, I thought the key to everything was one of the two DM’s coming back to receive the ball and advancing forward, or covering the ball playing CB who advanced forward. Obviously Dunk for us.

The DM and CB creating disarray for the opposition.

Long punts to Pedro or Mitoma, weren’t a feature for St Pauli with their equivalent players.

Ask the manager he is the one that tells him to do it.

He's waiting for the press to release it. But Brentford didn't press and sat back. It then looked like he didn't know what to do except stand there and wait for a press that didn't come, or eventually came.

Worked exactly to Brentford's game plan.

We had no Plan B apart from Hoof, which does not work.

We haven’t got 2 DM players

It's another example of fans having very limited understanding of modern football tactics, and what the players are actually trying to do. The people next to me kept saying "he is wasting our time" when he was holding on to it, as if one of the most highly-rated young goalkeepers in Europe is genuinely just standing there unsure what to do, rather than waiting for the right movement in front of him to play the ball and start the attack as they have been training all week / season to do.

It's like our fans haven't learnt anything in the last few years. It's unbelievable really.
