The two different groups for these have already been shown on BBC as,

Group 1 - England, South Africa, India and West Indies
Group 2 - Ireland, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and New Zealand

What I can't understand is why they are putting all the 1st place teams from the frist round in 1 league with the second placed teams in the other?

Im sure the Super Eights draw was already made before the tournament began, and the organisers knew who was going where. Australia then mucked it up

They haven't, its just the way it ended up. Each team was seeded in the first group round and carried that seeding through to the next round. If you were seeded 3 and qualified you took the seeding of the team you eliminated.

Its supposed to have 2 seed 1's and 2 seed 2's in each group but the seeding were done on the previous Twenty20 tournament which had SA as a 2nd seed which makes our group look tougher.

The rules are such that each team in each group is seeded 1, 2 or 3 (England are seeded 2 in their group). The progression to the next round is based on what seed you are not where you finish in the group (i.e. England would always have gone in to the same group whether they had finsihed first or second).

If the third seeded team (e.g. West Indies or Ireland) manages to knock out one of the other teams in their group then they take their seeding. Therefore Windies become team C1 (Australia's old seeding) despite the fact they are going to finish second in the group.

It has meant that the two games today and the SA v NZ match yeaterday are completely meaningless.

This is a massive gripe of mine. When the groups were drawn, teams were seeded based on their performance in the last Twenty20 WC; India 1 (winners), Pakistan 2 (finalists), etc. with England seeded 7th. However, they weren't content with this, and decided that these seedings should persist through to the Super 8s. If a seeded team was knocked out in the group stages (see Australia) then the unseeded team (Windies) take over their seeding number. The Super 8s are then the teams seeded 1,3,5,7 in one group and 2,4,6,8 in the other.

The argument was/is that this meant that people buying tickets for the Super 8s would be able to know in advance who they were going to see (so foreign tourists could make sure they would see their team). However, I bought some tickets and it was not at all obvious that they would be using this peverse system, and I've spoken to others who have said the same. As a result, I thought I had a chance of seeing England, however all along I was destined to watch Pakistan.

I also went yesterday, and, as a direct result of the seeding system, the South Africa v New Zealand game yesterday was a complete farce. Neither team were particularly interested, because there was absolutely nothing riding on the game. South Africa batted very strangely, but then somehow managed to defend their meagre total. My friend and I left with 5 overs of the New Zealand innings to go, partly in disgust and partly because of the Tube strike, but the game was a complete let down. Whoever thought seeding the Super 8s was a good idea should be shot.

I bought tickets for the Super 8's and I agree that there was no details then of the system. Thats why I went for tickets for Monday 15th because that day included games for both B1 and B2 so assuming England got through (which wasn't looking likely after Friday!) I knew I would be seeing England.

And yes Easy, top 2 from each group go through for the semi. Not sure if they retain their seedings for that though or whether its E1 v F2 and E2 v F2. Knowing the ICC it will be based on seedings.
