Having watched it on Sky I belive that it should have been ordered to be retaken. I player, I think it was Bridge was nearly level with the ball when Lawrence hit it or are my eyes deceiving me.

Neither do I but when I was a referee I watched the goalkeeper because then they couldn't move and I told my linesman to watch for encroachment. What was the assistant ref doing at the time.

Being only one down it would have been easier to get a draw as that goal killed us off

There was another penalty incident, when OGH was quite clearly held - ref had quite a good view, and gave a free kick to Sunderland. A few minutes later Knight was tugged back by his shirt (outside the area) and the ref gave a free kick to Sunderland.

As it happened, though, neither incident deserved to change the result - the better team won.

Definite penalty now I've seen it, Kuipers was very close to saving it though.

Hit the upright, bounced out and they were quicker to react.
