Sunderland announcement today,,,

Silly old bat
They have just experienced and rejected a manager very similar to Poyet and they are not ready for more.

I've though about this a lot and I just don't buy it. GP is a shrewd, manipulative man, who I think is far more in control of his emotions than others give him credit for. He plays up to the image of fiery South American but there is absolutely no way he'd lose it like Di Canio does/did. He's far too clever/ ambitious for that.

No doubt someone will prove me wrong but I didn't hear Poyet slag off his players in public. He had a lot to contend with at times with court cases, and players (Forster & Dickinson) trying it on, but kept it in house.

If it is going to happen they had best do it at the start of the inernational break, at the latest by this Wednesday. Now is the perfect time and it would not make any sense to bring him in just a few days before they play Swansea.

I reckon if anything Sunderland are using Gus as a red herring to keep the media at bay whilst they negotiate with someone else and are treating their interests in mutual confidence?

The international break must be a very frustrating time for a new manager. Even at Sunderland, which is hardly the strongest squad in the Prem, once all the international players have dissappeared, and the injured ones accounted for, the new bloke is going to be out on the training pitch with a pile of bibs and a bag of footballs, staring at Wes Brown and Lee Cattermole.

It's only my personal opinion but they both have very large ego's both have been described as dictatorial, Poyet today on SSN. Read that Vicente said about their relationship.
While setting aside the stuff we don't know, the fact is after the second leg of the play off he talked about himself and his next step not the clubs next step.

name a premier league manager without a big ego

Michael Gray reckons Poyet has got the job, and wished him all the best. Also speaks highly of him as a coach after both of their time together at Leeds.

Good luck Gus, hope he can keep them up.

Read that Vicente said about their relationship.

I'm not sure Vicente has a great deal of credibility as a source. Have you seen what he had to say about Valencia's medical department? GP's relationships with the players were very good, I'm led to believe, it was one of his strengths.

I have, and all I read was bitter interview from a man who Poyet wasn't picking for the first team.

Wayne Bridge and Gary Dicker both had nothing but good things to say about Poyet.

Vicente has a history for blaming other people, look at his views on medical team at Valencia.

Hey it may work out brilliantly we will have to see, just my opinion. As I said before I am still struggling to see the brilliant work he did for us over the way it ended. I want to support the guy again like I did 6 months ago and hopefully that will happen over time.

Players praising Gus:

Dicker, Bridcutt, Bridge - all sensible, professional footballers

Players slating Gus:

Vicente - who has a long history of being a lunatic.

Hmmmmmmmmm, it's a toughie isn't it?

Spot on, I'm sure he's a nightmare at times behind closed doors but he didn't air his grievances with players in public on a regular basis.

But the point is we have NO clue why it ended the way it did. We have no clue what happened around January to turn Gus from someone who loved his job into someone who couldn't care less.

I'm guessing the relationship between him and Barber became unworkable, but we have no idea whatsoever why that happened. Might be all Gus's fault. Might be all Barber's. Probably somewhere down the middle, therefore to opportion all blame to anyone is baffling.

You don't feel the whole gross misconduct thing sways the blame one way or the other?
