Would they not have contacted his employers to find out their reason for the decision and action they took. I would think so.

They might have, but they are always going to paint the situation in such a way as to favour their union member.

Could his mind have been elsewhere on the night? Is it true he turned up just before kick off? Did his discomfort get through to the players?

Of course he didn't throw the match but it is possible that he was very unprofessional in his approach to that game, had something happened since the first leg?..just a thought.

Then I would blame Tony Bloom for unsettling our manager right before a crucial game....

...come on, anyone can spin anything they want here, lets not play that game

That's the point, he sacked him and has not paid him, if Gus had walked, the result would have been the same. The only difference is one took a few months and has had an impact on preseason and is still impacting. If Gus had walked, we could have someone in within weeks and they might have had a better chance. As for managers, there are more out of work, then in work. It would not have been hard to get one.

There was absolutely no way Bloom was going to allow Poyet to just walk away looking the victim, when he most certainly wasn't.

I guess it's possible, but it doesn't make sense to me. We'd have been paid £2m+ if he left in the first couple of months of this season.

It would make sense if the club had already decided they wanted Oscar! Other clubs were also interested in him.

Football is not like that anymore. If Gus wanted to walk, I am sure he could have done. None of us know what the small print in his contract was. Companies sack people all the time for Gross misconduct and just because they do, does not mean that it's always lawful, people do win cases for unfair dismissal.

Without buying out the remainder of his contract?

Like most Albion supporters I enjoyed most of Poyet's time here. Unfortunately, his actions since March have totally soured my opinion of him. He left us in the shit at the end of the season after a disastrously ill-prepared second leg against Palace. For the way he treated this club towards the end, I hope he fails miserably. he won't but I hope he does.

You won't hear a word against Gus will you? :lolol:

I'm just really interested to know why the team really didn't seem to be as up for such a massive game as they should have been. Yeah maybe they did freeze but maybe things going on in the background had an effect. It's not a dig at Gus.

Being in the right, and doing what is best for the club do not always go together. The impact of this is still being felt and if Gus continues to pursue this through the courts, then it is likely to rumble on for years. Do not know how Gus would look the victim if he was allowed to walk away? We fell short of the target to get into the premiership, that is a failure and the buck would stop with the manager. Managers are always coming and going and there is always someone waiting to step into their shoes. I also think that a lot of the media seem to be on Gus's and he is looking like the victim now is he not.

culminated in his virtually gifting Palace victory in the second-leg of the play-off semi-final last season.

What on EARTH are you on about? The first half was in the balance, then early in the 2nd Barnes came on and we could've easily been 2-0 up with his first two touches, barring a WONDER SAVE from Speroni and a clearance off the line. It was Gus's plan to come REALLY close to victory but just lose out, was it?

I think they were nervous. I think Zaha finally proved what a class player he is. I think Wurzel is cannier than we give him credit for. I think we played 150 minutes of the play-off game exactly how we should but when the goal didn't come we fell apart. I think the fans were nervous (hell I know I was). I think anyone but Palace we'd have won. I think its just one game and anything can happen in one game. I think that the unexpected happens every year in the play-offs.

I think suggesting Gus threw the game or didn't prepare is ludicrous.

If there was stuff going on in the background, I have to ask WHY and WHO! We're about to get into the prem, who the f**k is stirring the boat? Gus said on many occasions he wanted to get to the prem with us.

We have NO IDEA what went on between Gus and PB around January-March time. This is the KEY to the whole thing and none of us know what happened.

Regardless of all the legal stuff, we'll find out a lot about Gus's true character if/when he gets the Sunderland job.

Much more media scrutiny, big expectations ... no longer the big star at a "little club", but a Championship manager being thrust into a Premier League job and expected to save them from relegation and change the culture of the club while he's at it.

It was rumoured that Oscar was lined up some time before Gus was sacked. Our problem is who from our squad will he come in for who are better than Sunderland have in the same position o could cut it in the Premier . Kuszczak,Bridcutt, Orlandi Ulloa Buckley as he is better than Zaha so 3 out those 5 are injured so no movement until January at least.

I agree with this viewpoint.

Nor do you know that it had ANYTHING at all to do with PB.
